The NWBL Championship game between the Colorado Chill and the San Diego Siege definitely lived up to the hype with the Chill successfully defending its title with the win over the incredibly powerful and sharp-shooting Siege, 78-71, in front of almost 2000 fans at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland.

The NWBL Championship game between the Colorado Chill and the San Diego Siege definitely lived up to the hype with the Chill successfully defending its title with the win over the incredibly powerful and sharp-shooting Siege, 78-71, in front of almost 2000 fans at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland. The Siege began the game by reeling off 6 points before Natasha Gamble (6'0''-F-83, college: Alabama) made a free throw for the Chill with over 2 minutes gone in the game. The Chill didn´t score a field goal until just less than 2 minutes left in the first quarter. However, the Colorado team went into the locker room at halftime up by 2 after a stunning second quarter in which it held the California squad to only 12 points while scoring 19. Erin Scholz (6'2''-F-75, college: Colorado) contributed greatly in the second quarter by pulling down 4 successive rebounds. The fourth quarter began with the Chill leading by 1 point, 50-49, then the game became the Jamie Carey (5'6''-G-81, college: Texas) show when she led the team by scoring 2 successive 3-pointers and finished the game with 17 points. When Carey cooled off, Becky Hammon (5'6''-G-77, college: Colorado St.) picked up at the free-throw line and was 6 of 6 in the final quarter. Hammon totaled 22 points in the contest. The Most Valuable Player of the game was Ruth Riley (6'5''-C-79, college: Notre Dame), and Jamie Carey (5'6''-G-81, college: Texas) was named to the All Tourney Team.

The final score was 81-62 tonight in San Diego. Tynesha Lewis (5'10''-G/F-79, college: N.Carolina St.) and Cathrine Kraayeveld (6'4''-F-81, college: Oregon) led the San Diego Siege in points with 18, Erica Glover (5'5''-G) and Giuliana Mendiola (5'11''-G, agency: Domantay Sports, college: Washington) finished with 20 to top the San Francisco Legacy.
The San Diego Siege jumped all over San Francisco in the first quarter 28-11. The outside shot was falling, as they hit three threes in the quarter.
San Diego started off the second quarter sluggish, and San Francisco crept back into the game. San Francisco scored the first 11 points in the quarter before Kraayeveld ended the run with a three. The San Diego Siege finished the half with a 13 point lead, 44-31. Kraayeveld led the San Diego Siege in scoring with 13, Erica Glover (5'5''-G) and Giuliana Mendiola (5'11''-G, agency: Domantay Sports, college: Washington) led the Leacy with nine.
The San Diego Siege play their final game of the season in Colorado against the Chill. The playoffs begin next week, the San Diego Siege will be either the number one or number two seed depending on how they finish the season against Colorado. Courtesy of NWBL.com.

On Friday the Colorado Chill added its seventh consecutive win, with the 104-88 win against San Francisco Legacy.
San Francisco kept it close in the first quarter, 22-19, but after that couldn't get within 10 points of the Chill.

A great contribution for Colorado Chill’s win had: Katie Cronin (6'0''-G-77, college: Colorado St.), who scored 17 of her 20 points in the first half and got all seven of her rebounds in the first half, Becky Hammon with 20 points, and Scholz 11. Adrian Williams had her seventh double double with 20 points and 16 rebounds. Her rebounds were evenly spread (8-8) between defensive and offensive rebounds.
Guliana Mendiola had 20 points for the Legacy with Erica Glover and Toni Russell (5'3''-G-83, college: USF) adding 19 and 18 respectfully.
On the same day, San Diego Siege has improved to 12-2, with the latest win 80-79 against the San Jose Spiders.
In a tough game, without the injured Cathrine Kraayeveld, the Siege rooster had to step up to the game, and manage to win it with Tera Bjorklund (6'5''-F-82, college: Colorado) ’s 19 points, Jessica Cheeks 19, and Loree Moore (5'9''-G-83, college: Tennessee) ’s 8 points and 13 rebounds.
The Spiders were led by Cisti Greenwalt with 18 points and 12 rebounds. After winning the first match up of the year, the Siege has run five straight to take the six game season series.
