Hope Holds off Olivet for MIAA Men's Basketball Championship - Feb 26, 2018

After losing to Olivet by over 20 points at the Comets home court just 10 days ago, the Hope men's basketball team found their shooting groove Saturday night to defeat Olivet in the 2018 MIAA Men's Basketball Tournament championship game, 106-94. The barn burner was the highest scoring game in MIAA Men's Basketball Tournament history.
Hope improved to 18-9 overall, while Olivet finishes the season with a 16-11 mark.
Hope's Jason Beckman (5'11''-PG) shot 19-of-22 from the free throw line - a total that is tied for sixth in the NCAA this season - on his way to a team-best 32 points. Teammate Riley Lewis (5'10''-PG) came off the bench to go 8-of-10 from the field for 21 points. Even with the hot-shooting performance, Hope's Teddy Ray (6'5''-F) gathered 18 rebounds to go with 13 points.
Olivet's Tracy Edmond (5'0''-PG) led all scorers with 36 points while giving out eight assists. As a team, the Comets committed just four turnovers in the setback.
