Navy Captures Second Consecutive Patriot League Championship - Mar 10, 2012
Jade Geif (6'0''-F) led all scorers with 22 points to lead Navy to a 57-48 victory over Holy Cross in the championship game of the 2012 Patriot League Women's Basketball Tournament. The Mids captured their second consecutive League crown, and head off to the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season. Navy will learn its NCAA first-round fate during the selection show Monday at 7 p.m. on ESPN. Geif garnered Tournament MVP honors for the second straight season, as well, becoming the fourth back-to-back MVP in tournament history. She joins Amy O'Brien of Holy Cross (1998-99), Anna Kinne of Holy Cross (2000-01) and Alex Ross (5'10''-G) of Lehigh (2009-10). Geif was joined on the All-Tournament team from Navy by fellow sophomores Alix Membreno (5'9''-G) and Kara Pollinger (5'7''-G). Membreno was also an All-Tournament selection last season. Junior Amy Lepley (6'0''-G/F) and sophomore Alex Smith (5'8''-G) represented Holy Cross on the All-Tournament Team. The squad was rounded out by Lehigh senior Emily Gratch (6'1''-F)
