The time is drawing near to the sophomore season of the Mississippi Basketball Exposure League. Owners Jarell Jones and Daniel Price , who is also the owner of the ABA team Mississippi Blues, look forward to an even better season this year in the MBEL.

The time is drawing near to the sophomore season of the Mississippi Basketball Exposure League. Owners Jarell Jones and Daniel Price , who is also the owner of the ABA team Mississippi Blues, look forward to an even better season this year in the MBEL.
The inaugural season of the MBEL in summer 2008, was a success. Our goal was to help players follow their dreams of playing professional basketball by creating an exposure league that would bring scouts and agents to them. We know how hard it is for players that do not have the means to make it to camps and tryouts so we try to ease that burden for them with the MBEL.
The MBEL saw ten percent of its players get deals. From the championship team the Warriors saw four of its players go on to play in the ABA for the Mississippi Blues. Jarell Jones , Bobby Johnson, and Sandrell Spann all received contracts to play for the Blues. BJ Townsend became assistant coach for the Blues and later became interim head coach when Daniel Price hung up his clipboard and started playing for his team. Richard Griffin, who played for the Raiders in the MBEL also received and contract to play for the Mississippi Blues of the ABA. The Jackson Jam saw five of its players get deals. Ernest Hassell, Julius Young, Roderick Smith, Dakari Wallace, and Trey Johnson (6'5''-G-84, agency: Priority Sports, college: Jackson St.) all of them playing their college basketball at Jackson State University all got contract to further their careers. Hassell, Young, and Smith all played in the ABA with the Mississippi Blues. Roderick Smith was named and Eastern Conference ABA All-star for the Blues. Dakari Wallace got a contract to play in Japan. The most successful was Trey Johnson who went on to play in the NBA D-league and received to 10 day contracts with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Trey Johnson is an amazing talent and hard worker, says owner Jarell Jones . I have never seen anyone work harder than him. Trey Johnson went on to play for the Bakersfield Jam in the D-league. Trey Johnson is a gym rat. He is the type of guy that you have to make leave the gym. Johnsons work ethic is crazy. From 5 am weight lifting and shooting to mid to late day workouts. You can see it in his eyes how bad he wants to make it on a NBA roster permanently, says Daniel Price . In every drill he does he goes at game speed. He is relentless in his workouts. Its only a matter of time before Trey has found a permanent home in the NBA

The Mississippi Basketball Exposure League is a league that is primarily designed to function as a vehicle that captures a player's artistic performance on the basketball court and, ultimately, make that performance available to an agent and/or any one of the many professional organizations that are considering signing that player as a member of its team.
