According with the official GBPL website, the league increased its line-up of four new teams, three based in Texas, Austin Flame, Houston Astroids and San Antonio Airmen, and one based in Knox, Tennessee, the River City Red Wasps. This group of teams will compete in the so-named GBPL-2. This GPBL-2 will be a true developmental league and serve as a feeder link for the Global Professional Basketball League and its member teams

According with the official GBPL website, the league increased its line-up of four new teams, three based in Texas, Austin Flame, Houston Astroids and San Antonio Airmen, and one based in Knox, Tennessee, the River City Red Wasps. This group of teams will compete in the so-named GBPL-2. This GPBL-2 will be a true developmental league and serve as a feeder link for the Global Professional Basketball League and its member teams. The goal of the GPBL will be to provide GPBL-2 team owners an platform where they can learn valuable experience in what it takes to own and manage a successful franchise. The GPBL-2 will serve those teams that currently play in smaller venues (300-1500 seats) while creating a business model that will help the teams make money.

On February 02, 2010 the United Sports Media Holdings announced that it has acquired an ownership stake in the basketball organization, Global Professional Basketball League (GPBL). United Sports Media, a subsidiary of USM Holdings, will handle the duties of Public and Media Relations while assisting in the expansion of the league. On February 02, 2010 the United Sports Media Holdings announced that it has acquired an ownership stake in the basketball organization, Global Professional Basketball League (GPBL). United Sports Media, a subsidiary of USM Holdings, will handle the duties of Public and Media Relations while assisting in the expansion of the league. The announcement was made at a press conference in Hollywood, CA by Rod Myers, President and Chief Executive Officer, USM Holdings. 'The GPBL is our first venture into sports ownership and we certainly look forward to the challenges that lay ahead for us. As with any business, we know the road to success will be long and winding, but we are prepared to do our best to ensure that very success', stated Rod Myers.'The GPBL presented us with very definitive goals that impressed us, and combined with the business model and focused direction, the GPBL can surely become a major player in the world of basketball. The Global Professional Basketball League (GPBL) has confirmed that four teams will participate in the 2010 season. Three teams are located in Ohio, and one in Pennsylvania. Several other teams have signed with the league and are looking to start play in the 2011 season.
The 2010 season will consist of each team playing 24 games in the regular season followed by a 2 day tournement to crown the GPBL Champions. The 2 day tournement will be help in Stark County, Ohio

The Global Professional Basketball League (GPBL) has confirmed that four teams will participate in the 2010 season. Three teams are located in Ohio, and one in Pennsylvania. Several other teams have signed with the league and are looking to start play in the 2011 season.
The 2010 season will consist of each team playing 24 games in the regular season followed by a 2 day tournement to crown the GPBL Champions. The 2 day tournement will be help in Stark County, Ohio. The location will be announced soon.
The GPBL will be announcing all the teams, venues, and front office staffs soon. There were some conflicts with several dates at two of the facilities and hope to have the schedule finalized by the end of the month.
