From the Dream: After sitting out the 2016 WNBA season to participate in the Rio Olympics for Team Brazil, forward Damiris Dantas (6'3''-C-78) will return to compete for the Atlanta Dream, the team announced Thursday. 'It is great to have Damiris coming back to the WNBA and the Atlanta Dream,' head coach Michael Cooper said. 'She is a versatile player, who will provide us depth at the four and five positions. She will be an important part of our success in 2017.' The Dream acquired the 6-3 Dantas in a trade with Minnesota midway through the 2015 season, averaging 8.3 points and 5.4 rebounds in 16 games for Atlanta. The third-year player has career averages of 6.5 points and 4.7 rebounds. Atlanta Dream training camp opens April 23 at the Riverside EpiCenter. The Dream home opener is scheduled for Sunday, May 21 against the visiting Chicago Sky.
