New York Liberty landed 24-year old Australian international guard Rebecca Allen (185-92, agency: LBM Management). It is actually her comeback to New York Liberty as she played here before. Allen played most recently at South East Queensland in Australian WNBL. In 20 games she averaged 11.5ppg, 5.6rpg, 1.1apg and 1.8spg (in top 4) last season. She helped them to make it to the semifinals. It was a very successful season in her career as she was selected to Australiabasket.com All-Australian WNBL Honorable Mention.
Among other achievements Allen received Australiabasket.com All-Australian WNBL Defensive Player of the Year award in 2014.
She has been also a member of Australian international program for some years. Allen has regularly played for Australian senior team since 2014 and previously for U19 National Team between 2009 and 2011. She also represented Australia at the World Championships for Women in Turkey two years ago. Allen's team won Bronze and her stats at that event were 6 games: 4.3ppg, 1.5rpg.
Allen has played also professionally for other Australian teams like Boomers, Dandenong Rangers, Australian Institute of Sport, Spectres and Knox Raiders.
Her game is described as: A big-bodied guard with amazing physical tools and great defensive skills. She's very effective in guard both forwards and guards.
