Henry-Morello
The Connecticut Sun announced Friday the signing of former Atlanta Dream forward/center Aneika Henry (6'4''-C-86, college: Florida) to a two-year contract. Per team policy, terms were not released. The 6-foot-4 Henry appeared in 131 regular season games with 30 starts over the past four seasons in Atlanta, averaging 4.6 points and four rebounds per game. She provides much-needed depth at center after Connecticut traded Elizabeth Williams, the fourth overall pick in the 2015 WNBA Draft, to Atlanta earlier this month for the fourth overall pick in this April's draft. The Sun also have the third overall pick. 'We are excited to welcome Aneika Henry to the Sun,' first-year Sun head coach Curt Miller said. 'She is a veteran WNBA center with post season experience. She brings us a physical presence in the paint and she is a proven rebounder. She has a great reputation with her teammates and will be a great addition to our culture in the locker room.' Henry averaged career-highs of 5.2 points and 4.7 rebounds in 29 games last season. She had a career-high 16 points in a 76-72 win at Los Angeles on July 16, and scored in double figures four times. She also had a season-high 10 rebounds in a 73-67 win over Washington on Sept. 6.

Chelsea Gray's buzzer beater lifts Sparks past Lynx 77-76 in finals rematch - 2 days ago
There was no better way for the WNBA to open its 22nd season than with another intense matchup between the Los Angeles Sparks and the Minnesota Lynx. After the Lynx received their championship rings and raised a fourth banner in the arena, Chelsea Gray (5'11''-G-92, college: Duke) and the Sparks gave them their parting shot. Gray had 18 points, including a double-clutch off-balance in the lane at the buzzer that gave the short-handed Sparks a 77-76 victory over the Lynx on Sunday in a dra...   [read more]

Diana Taurasi (6'0''-SG-82, college: Connecticut) scored 20 of her 26 points in the first half and became the first WNBA player with 1,000 career 3-pointers, helping the Phoenix Mercury beat the Dallas Wings 86-78 on Friday night in the league's season opener. Taurasi is one of four players, joining the NBA's Damian Lillard, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, to reach the 3-point mark with less than 400 games played.
