The New York Liberty have re-signed Kara Braxton (6'6''-C-83, college: Georgia). The centre will enter the second straight season with the Liberty. Kara Braxton is playing in Russia currently. She is the member of Nadezhda Orenburg squad. Her stats read 9.7 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game in PBL. Last season Kara Braxton tallied 6.7 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.0 assist per appearance for the Liberty. Previously she had spells for the Shock and the Mercury. The centre also played in Poland, Turkey, Italy and China. She was named All-Polish PLKK Centre of the Year in 2006. Kara Braxton also claimed All-Chinese WCBA Player of the Year award back in 2010. The centre was the member of the USA National Team back in 2006.

Amber Stocks-Whitford is getting a new job. The Los Angeles Sparks assistant has been hired as head coach of the Chicago Sky, two people with knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press on Thursday. The people spoke on condition of anonymity because the team had not announced the move. A news conference is scheduled for Tuesday. Connecticut Sun forward Ogwumike Chiney(6'4''-F-92, college: Stanford) underwent successful Achilles surgery Wednesday on her left tendon at Houston Methodist Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. Indiana Fever to name Pokey Chatman coach - 22 days ago

Less than three weeks after being fired by the Chicago Sky, Pokey Chatman has become coach of the Indiana Fever. Chatman, 47, was introduced Friday as the Fever's sixth coach. She succeeds Stephanie White, who left after two seasons to become coach at Vanderbilt. Predecessors were Anne Donovan, Nell Fortner, Brian Winters and Lin Dunn.
