The Connecticut Sun announced today it has signed Memphis guard Brittany Carter (5'9''-G-89) to a training camp contract.

As per team policy, terms were not released.

A native of Covington, Ga., the 5-foot-9 Carter averaged 15.5 points per game in three years at Memphis after transferring from Georgia following her freshman season. She also averaged 4.5 rebounds per game during her career as a Tiger. As a redshirt sophomore in 2009-10, Carter scored a career-high 49 points in a win over Sacramento State. It is the best single game scoring mark in either Memphis men's or women's single game history.

Carter scored in double-figures 71 times, including 25 games with 20 or more points. The C-USA Newcomer of the Year in 2010, Carter was a C-USA First Team All-Conference honoree in 2010 and 2011 and a Second Team honoree in 2012. She was the first Tiger to earn three all-conference post season awards since former Sun forward Tamika Whitmore in 1997-99.

The Connecticut Sun will tip off its 10th season in the state with a back-to-back against the New York Liberty, traveling to face its Eastern Conference rival on May 19th at 4 p.m. before returning home to Mohegan Sun Arena for a rematch on May 20th at 5 p.m. Connecticut will be home for seven of its first nine games.
