Two pre-season games were played yesterday and there is just one more scheduled before the beginning of the 2012 WNBA season.
Washington Mystics gave a lesson to Connecticut Sun and celebrated 83-64 home victory. The Mystics dominated in Q2 and Q3 to secure the comfortable win in this meeting. In the loosing squad, Asjha Jones (6'2''-F-80, college: Connecticut) delivered 17 pts. Quarters: 23-21, 21-14, 28-16, 11-13. Chicago Sky blasted New York Liberty on the road 89-57. Visitors took control on their rival from the beginning and had no troubles to keep the comfortable lead, especially in the second half. Epiphanny Prince (5'9''-G-88, college: Rutgers) shined with 15 points and 9 rebounds for Chicago. Their second scorers were Carolyn Swords (6'6''-C-89, agency: LBM Management, college: Boston Coll.) (10 rebs) and Shey Peddy (5'7''-G-88, college: Temple) with 14 points each. In NY Liberty, Plenette Pierson (6'2''-PF-81, college: Texas Tech) was better than the others with 14 points. Quarters: 19-30, 17-17, 8-20, 13-22. Minnesota will host Chicago today and it will be the last pre-season game.

Washington Mystics announced signing of Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton (6'2''-PF-86, agency: LBM Management, college: Purdue) and Jessica Breland (6'3''-F-88, college: N.Carolina) for the next season. Also the team waived two other forwards - Laura Harper (6'4''-F/C-86, college: Maryland) and Ashley Walker (6'1''-F/C-87, agency: Merit Sports, college: California).

Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton was recently waived by the Chicago Sky. Last season with the Sky she had 1.8 ppg and 1.8 rpg for 26 games. Wisdom-Hylton was selected by the Los Angeles Sparks 13th overall in the 2009 WNBA draft. She spent two seasons with the Sparks before joining the Chicago Sky for the 2011 season. Her career averages include 2.9 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. A standout at Purdue University, Wisdom-Hylton was named to the All-Big Ten First team and the All-Defensive Big Ten team. Jessica Breland spent the 2011 season on the roster of the Connecticut Sun. She was drafted 13th overall in the 2011 WNBA draft by the Minnesota Lynx. Breland finished her collegiate career at the University of North Carolina where she was named to the 2010-11 ACC All-tournament team. Laura Harper most recently played for the Sacramento Monarchs. It was in 2009 WNBA season. Of course, she spent last couple of years in Europe. Ashley Walker started last season with the San Antonio Silver Stars, but they parted ways before the any official appearance.

The Chicago Sky announced today that guards Shey Peddy (5'7''-G-88, college: Temple) and Sydney Carter (5'6''-G-90, college: Texas A&M) have been waived from the team. The roster now stands at 12 players.
Shey Peddy, a 5-foot 7-inch guard, was selected by the Sky with 23rd pick of the 2012 Draft. She was the 2011-12 Atlantic 10 Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year. She helped guide Temple to a 23-10 record and a WNIT berth [read more]

Shey Peddy, a 5-foot 7-inch guard, was selected by the Sky with 23rd pick of the 2012 Draft. She was the 2011-12 Atlantic 10 Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year. She helped guide Temple to a 23-10 record and a WNIT berth. Named the Owl's MVP in her senior season, she averaged 17.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game
Sydney Carter, a 5-foot 6-inch guard, was selected by the Sky with 27th pick of the 2012 Draft. She was a three-time co-captain for the Aggies, 2011-12 Big 12 All-Defensive Team member and named to the All-Big 12 Second Team. In 2010-2011, she was named the NCAA Dallas Regional Most Outstanding Player en route to Texas A&M winning their first national championship. Carter was also selected for the 2008-09 Big 12 All-Freshman Team.
Chicago starts the 2012 regular season in Washington versus the Mystics on Saturday, May 19. The team's home opener is set for Friday, May 25 at 7:30 p.m. at Allstate Arena versus the Indiana Fever.
