The best in Rattlers was Mike Garrett (6'3''-G-77, college: San Jose St.), who scored 25 points in losing effort. The final record of the Breakers in the West Coast Pro Basketballl League is 18-0, but most of the times the opponents were not so much of 'weekend teams'. Also, we would suggest to remove that word 'Pro' from the league name: during the three months of competition, no official rosters have been released, nor game results, nor boxscores. The 'official' WCBPL website is exactly at the same stage of its start, and only the Breakers released an official website, with some updatings. Would you call this a professional league ?

Tyler Newton of the Santa Barbara Breakers sustained an ankle injury last week that will sideline him for 2-4 weeks. He will not play anymore games for the Breakers this season but will be ready for his next season overseas. Newton was averaging 9 rebounds and just less than 18 points a game for the Breakers. In his place, the Breakers signed Adam Zahn who recently played in overseas in Norway. Zahn played in the IBL for the Eugene Chargers last year when Coach Pickering noticd his talents.

The Santa Barbara Breakers hosted the High Desert Rattlers Friday night and struggled to keep their perfect record. Neither the Breakers nor the Rattlers could keep a good lead over the other. Tim Taylor (6'3''-G-82, college: Wayne St., NE) came into the game for the Breakers in the final minutes and helped his team secure the victory with a final score of 125-122, Breakers. This is by far the closest game yet for the Breaker, bringing their record to 12-0 and the Rattlers record to 4-2.

During the past weeks, the Santa Barbara Breakers extended their season-long winning streak to eleven games, and the sensation is that this West Coast Pro Basketball League can not be considered much of a one-team league. In fact, till now only one team (the Breakers) played a full schedule in the same home court, and only them have a reliable website with a stable roster.

In fact, till now only one team (the Breakers) played a full schedule in the same home court, and only them have a reliable website with a stable roster. None of the other teams in the WCPBL played more than a half of the Breakers games, and some of their best players switched between one team and another. The so-named 'official league website' never displayed the game results, neither the full team rosters. It all seems more a weekend, amateur league than a true professional one. We forecast an easy triumph of the Breakers in the upcoming 'WCPBL Championship Weekend' scheduled for June 20-21 at the SBCC Sports Pavilion, not by case their home venue.. However, see here down the last results we found of the Breakers' games Thursday, May 15, 2008: High Desert Rattlers 116 - Santa Barbara 126 Thursday, May 22, 2008: Newport Beach Surf 130 - Santa Barbara 144 Sunday, May 25, 2008: Ventura Jets 89 - Santa Barbara 105

Hollywood has also attained Johnnie Parker (6'8''-F-78, college: Missouri) from the same Breakers, who was traded for a player to be named by coach Pickering. Parker averaged six points and five rebounds in two games this season in a Santa Barbara uniform. The Stars will undoubtedly need contributions from all of their players in support of team scoring leader Tawaris Gilbert if they wish to compete with a Breakers team that dominated them in a 106-87 victory some weeks ago.
The Santa Barbara Breakers seems really unbeatable in this year West Coast Pro Basketball League. After all, they are the only team with a running website, have lots of players with previous pro experience and a good team organization. Given the results, we can not say the same of the other teams in the league. In their last two games, the Breakers easily defeated Newport Beach 100-82 and Ventura 118-95. Their record is now 6-0 and we expect that they will end season undefeated.

While the Santa Barbara Breakers went on in winning, defeating the Pasadena Slam 124-112 led by Josh Merrill (6'9''-F-74, college: UCSB), who scored 23 pts and grabbed 15 rebs, it seems that the ABA team to compete in the West Coast Pro Basketball League won' t be Orange County, but the Maywood Buzz. The Buzz joned the league and got a nice start in their debut game, shutting down the Ventura Jets. The Buzz was lead by Ramel Lloyd (6'4''-G-78, college: Long Beach St.

We don' t know yet so much about the WCPBL other franchises, for sure it seems that the Santa Barbara Breakers are the only team in this league well organized and working. The Breakers played their third game on Saturday, April 19, defeating the visiting Carlsbad Beach Dawgs 117-108 thanks to a winning effort in the second half.
