Jermaine Barnes (6'4''-G/F-83, college: Point, GA, agency: Gamble Sports Management) made a big three-pointer in the final minute of the fourth and scored a season-high 58 points to offset 33 by Southern Generals' Ron Blossomgame (6'9''-C/F-89, college: Middle Georgia), and the GIE Maile Matrix opened their April schedule with a 99-94 win Saturday over the Southern Generals (#1 Power Ranked), who remain on the top of the UBA with a 12-2 record in the Southern Conference. Barnes added 10 rebounds and 3 assists in 40 minutes for the former UBA MVP. DeAndre Bray yet again had 20 assists and 15 points as the Matrix stayed within a game of the Spartans for the top spot in the South.

Blossomgame was magnificent in defeat, scoring 19 straight points for the Generals and adding 13 rebounds and two blocks. But he couldn't prevent the Generals from their 10 game winning streak. Rupert Rose (6'0''-G-88, college: Grambling St.) added 23 points and Jamaal Newman (5'11''-PG-87, college: Claflin) dissed 8 assists (with 10 points) for the Generals.
