Georgia Vipers added to their roster experienced 38-year old forward Jumaine Jones (202-104kg-79, college: Georgia). He played last summer at Fuerza Guinda de Nogales in Mexican CIBACOPA, but left the team in May. In 12 games he recorded 14.6ppg, 8.9rpg and 2.9apg.
In 1999 Jones was drafted by Atlanta Hawks (NBA) in first round (27 th overall). He attended University of Georgia and it will be his 18th (!!!) season in pro basketball.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others Jones played in the final of Mexican CIBACOPA in 2015. He was also voted Latinbasket.com All-Mexican CIBACOPA Forward of the Year in 2015.
Jones is quite experienced player. His career allowed him to visit three different continents, while he played in seven different countries. Jones tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Latin America and of course North America. He has played previously also in Bulgaria (Levski), Israel (Bnei Hasharon), Italy (VL Pesaro, Juvecaserta and Napoli Megaride), Puerto Rico (Mets), Russia (Ural Great) and NBA (LA Lakers, Brooklyn Nets, Phoenix Suns and Charlotte Hornets).
On Jones:
A powerful forward with a soft shooting touch, who can hit a 3 pointer if needed. Thanks to his strong body, can successfully play inside as an undersized 4, and his shooting skills make him an effective SF. Plus, he has experience of top level competitions and great rebounding skills. Could be not totally convincing for the NBA, but he's a top player for Europe.
