Erron Maxey
Mike Amico Reports
2016 UBA Draft

ATLANTA - Erron Maxey (6'6''-F-78, college: Providence) went from Down Under to the top of the UBA draft, and a record number of international players followed.

The GIE Maile Matrix took the International SuperMan with the No. 1 pick on Saturday night, making him the oldest (37) first overall pick in league history.

Maxey climbed on stage to the sound of cheers from a Atlanta-filled crowd hoping he could bring the Matrix back to the glory years.

The night before Maxey displayed his ability at the UBA Classic fueled by RedBull. He finished the game with 24 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists.

GIE Maile Matrix grabbed the versatile 6-foot-7 forward from Toowoomba Mountaineers (Australia) who averaged 27.2 points, 12.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists to become the only player in QBL history to finish in the top three in all three categories.

He comes with some questions -- age -- but too much production for the Matrix to pass up with their first No. 1 pick since taking Jermaine Barnes 8 years ago.

"I hate age, honestly," Barnes said. "I told coach Sherman Douglas we had to have him". He is by far the best player I have seen. He plays like a man thats 23 years old.

Maxey 37, continues to dominate the game of basketball despite his age. "Maxey can play the game at a high level until hes 44", said coach Douglas. Basketball has became entertainment, but if you want a player--Erron Maxey is the choice.
