On December 3, 2016, Jermaine Barnes (6'4''-G/F-83, college: Point, GA, agency: Gamble Sports Management) returns to the GIE Maile Matrix to beat the Georgia Elite. The return from Barnes to the UBA came after a 24-month retirement, in which he played in the 2016 UBA All-Star Game and a few return failures in 2015.

On August 22, Barnes announced his return to the UBA through a two-word press release: "I'm back."The next day, Barnes flew to Spain to meet with EBA clubs entertaining the thought of a possible return to Europe. He took to the court with the Matrix to face the Georgia Elite in Atlanta, scoring 22 points.

Although he hadn't played an UBA game in a year and a half, Barnes played well upon his return, he started his first game red hot scoring 12 points in the first quarter of the Saturday night game. He would finish with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists.

Barnes showed signs of his talents but also the rust of being away from the game. "it was very hard after the first quarter", Barnes joked. I have to learn how to play the game all over again. This is the reason I have decided to play in the UBA for a full season. Then I will test the Euro market.

The return of the Barnes to the UBA was good for television and the league, but even greater for the Matrix.

Barnes is talked about as one of the best players of all-time in the minors, and with good reason he won five UBA Championships, earning the UBA Finals MVP four time. He was named the UBA's MVP four times, an All-Star 8 times, and the MVP of the All-Star game three times. He was a 5 time UBA scoring champion, and three times the UBA assists champ, he was also a two time UBA Slam Dunk Contest Champion and was the Defensive Player of the Year in 2011.

He was nominated to the All-UBA First Team 6 times, Second Team once, All-Defensive First Team six times, the All-Rookie First Team as well being named the NBA Rookie of the Year in 2009.

In 2011 Slam Magazine honored Barnes as the first minor league star to put the UBA on the map. He would later be featured in Slam online two more times in 2013 with co-star Freddie Williams.

In his career Barnes has played in eight different countries (Japan, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Taiwan, Cyprus, Turkey, Dominican Republic & Uruguay). He was named to the All-Import Team four times along with Eurobasket.com Forward of the Year in Cyprus (2014). in 2006 Barnes was named the countries top scorer (26.7ppg) along with being named National Player of the Year.

Barnes also won two Bronze medals with Team USA at the 2012, 2013 Williams Jones Cup in the Olympics Qualifications. He was later named AsiaBasket.com All-WJC Team.

After a great career Barnes was invited to attend Minnesota Timberwolves (NBA) training camp in 2014. Barnes was released and resigned with Pueblo Nuevo of the Santiago League.

KK Bosna-Royal Sarajevo (Division 1) strengthened their roster with addition of American guard Cory Bradford (191-G-78, college: Illinois). He played last season at Liberia in Costa Rican LBS League.
