UBA Interview

Freddie Williams (6'2''-G-87, college: Clayton St., agency: Gamble Sports Management) current player of GIE Maile Matrix (UBA) gave an interview:

Q: How did it feel to win your first UBA Player of the Year (MVP) award?

A: Well as you know the UBA is filled with talent and it was a tremendous honor to be named MVP of the league. The feeling was bitter sweet seeing that we made a first round exit out the playoffs.

Q: The Matrix have been the face of the UBA for 8 years. How does your team stay on top not just in the UBA but internationally also?

A: GIE is what I have to say to that! We are the what teams dream of. We work hard and have an attitude that is backed up by our physical play. Coming to our team players know what we represent, nothing less than the best

Q: You are one of the most successful minor league players of all-times (5 championships, 2x MVP (League & Finals), 3x All-Star Game MVP, Bronze Medal). What keeps you coming back?

A: The league means more than just basketball to me. I have learned and earned more than I could imagine coming where I'm from, so this is something that will always be apart of Freddie Williams.

Q: Which was the best game you had in your career so far?

A: The best game I would say was against the Ga Lions. (28 points, 8 rebounds and 10 steals)

Q: Tell us your strong point and your weakness in your game?

A: The strongest part of my game is my scoring ability and the weakness is free throws

Q: Which player was the hardest opponent to play against?

A: Derwin Kitchen was my hardest opponent. My AAU teammate and high school rival. We never got that win in high school either.

Q: Tell about the best teammates you had so far.

A: Jermaine Barnes (6'4''-G/F-83, college: Point, GA, agency: Gamble Sports Management) by far is the best teammate I have had. Even though he may not pass the ball lol he has the drive and the smarts to put me in perfect situations to shine and win games. Also playing behind Cory Bradford (6'3''-G-78, college: Illinois) in the Jones Cup showed me what a real pro was. He was who I watched and learned a lot from.

Q: Which coach you want to thank because he made you better player?

A: Bobby Washington my Juco coach who made me grow up and truly showed me how to elevate my game.

Q: It has been said that Jermaine "Guice" Barnes is back. What does that mean for Freddie Williams and the Matrix this season?

A: Oh that's still the talk? I forgot about that guy lol but I just can't wait to get back on the floor with my brother. He makes the game fun and for me it means I know I will have someone on the court I who has my back 100%

Q: Which is your favorite basketball shoe? Which one you wear now?

A: Jordans are the only shoes I wear. Which ones will I play in this yr. Wait and see.

Q: Where would you rank the UBA among leagues you have played in?

A: The UBA has everything you could ask for. The competition is the great, fans and support from all over the world makes it one of the top leagues for me.

Q: Any last words for new teams joining the UBA?

A: To the new teams joining the league the Matrix has a saying for teams like those. 'The varsity doesn't lose to the JV'
