GIE Lady Matrix guard Kristina King (5'11''-G/F-92, college: Richmond) named 2015-16 WUBA Rookie of the Year

ATLANTA - The GIE Lady Matrix' Kristina King, who leads all rookies in scoring (22.3ppg), rebounds (7.5rpg) and assists (6.9apg), has unanimously won the 2015-16 Chick Fil A WUBA Rookie of the Year Award, the WUBA announced today. The Atlanta native becomes the first Lady Matrix rookie to win the award.

King received all 50 first-place votes (50 points) from a panel of coaches and owners in the (W) Universal Basketball Association. The Atlanta Legends' Jheri Booker (6'0''-F/G-89, college: Tennessee St.) finished second with 30 points, and the Texas Cyclones' Tasheba Butler (5'8''-G/F-88, college: Lander) was third with 20 points. Players were awarded five points for each first-place vote, three points for each second-place vote and one point for each third-place vote.

The WUBA All-Star, King led the league in scoring (22.3 ppg, 1st in the WUBA rookies) and assists (6.9 per game, first in the WUBA) and ranked 9th in rebounds (7.5, 2nd in the WUBA rookies) -- making her the league's only player to reach those averages in the three categories. Not only is King having a great season but his team is currently ranked #3 in the WUBA entering the post season.

She was named 2016 Copa Mitchell Cup (MVP) in Santiago, Dominican Republic in the Copa Mitchell Cup. Later claimed MVP of the Eurobasket Summer League in Atlanta.
