The PrimeTime Players moved one step closer to claiming the TRBL regular season title on Friday night, defeating the Wilmington Sea Dawgs 124-105.

PrimeTime overcame an uncharacteristic shooting night that saw them knock down just 37% of their first half shots. There seemed to be a lid on the basket for most of the evening at The Pointe, but a resilient Sea Dawgs squad was finally laid to rest with a run midway through the fourth quarter. Led by dunks from Brian Mobley (6'6''-G/F-87, college: Johnson C. Smith) and Donald Rutherford (6'7''-F-87, college: Catawba) and dagger threes from Terell Smith (6'2''-G, college: Limestone) and Antonio Houston (6'5''-G/F-88, college: Catawba), PrimeTime was able to open up a game-high 20-point lead with under seven minutes to play.

Smith and Houston led the way for PrimeTime with 25 points each. Smith also grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds to record the Players' only double-double of the evening. Mobley and James Dillard (6'6''-F-87, college: Johnson C. Smith) had 21 and 15 respectively and were key to picking the team out of their shooting slumps when nobody else was connecting.

Marsharee Neely (6'2''-G-88, college: ODU) was the story of the night for the Sea Dawgs as he finished just two points shy of a TRBL record for single points in a game with 38. He single-handedly kept Wilmington within striking distance at times in the game with his incredible coast-to-coast drives after PrimeTime baskets. He was also one of three Dawgs with nine rebounds in the game, joining Damian Brown and Julian Long. Shelton Carter also chipped in 15 for the visitors.

The win sets up a showdown for the regular season championship and the top seed in the TRBL playoffs tomorrow night against the visiting Cary Invasion, who also won at home on Friday night. PrimeTime defeated Cary 111-105 on April 21st to hand the Invasion their first home loss in two years, and there will be no love lost between the top two teams in the league when the game tips tomorrow evening at 5pm at The Pointe.

Bull City Legacy outgun Cary Invasion - 2 Years ago
As is tradition, arch rivals the Cary Invasion and the Bull City Legacy opened their respective seasons last Saturday, this time in Durham at Voyager Academy and, in what has become their tradition, both teams gave those attending a show. These two teams really don't care for each other much, but that they do respect each other's game is apparent. This due, in part, to both teams carrying players on their rosters who used to play for the other team. While, too, many of them have been team...   [read more]

The defending champions, the Raleigh Revolt, come into the game having only lost once this season against the visiting Auburn Pro-Elite. That loss brought to an end a 17 ga...   [read more]
