The Rochester RazorSharks took Game One in St. Joseph last night on the road against the Lake Michigan Admirals 97-91. Lake Michigan won two of four quarters against the 'Sharks, but it was the second they couldn't recover from. The Admirals saw their first quarter lead vanish with 1.3 seconds left on a three-pointer by Corey Allmond (6'2''-G-88, college: Sam Houston St.). The RazorSharks went up 18-17. It was the beginning of a nightmare for Lake Michigan. Rochester went on a 17-0 run, posting a 52-30 halftime lead. The Admirals chipped away at the lead, cutting it to eight, 70-62 at the end of the third.
Lake Michigan had opportunities in the fourth, cutting the lead to one, 81-80 with 5:36 left. Free throws didn't fall, 10 for 17 in the fourth quarter.
Nick Waddell (6'7''-C, college: Grand Valley St.) had 22 points, 11 rebounds followed by Anthony Spencer (6'6''-G/F, college: Johnson CCC) and Marcus Tarrance (6'6''-G-91, college: Middle Tenn.St.) at 15. The Admirals were 25 for 42 on the night from the foul line and 35 of 74 from the field
Melvin Council (6'3''-G-82, college: Robert Morris) had 23 points for Rochester. Mark St.Fort (6'7''-F, college: Warner) had 13, Jerice Crouch (6'0''-PG-84, college: Chattanooga) and Corey Allmond (6'2''-G-88, college: Sam Houston St.) 11, including the three-pointer that started the RazorShark 34-13 run in the second quarter.
So far, Rochester has won the last three games played against the Admirals and look to capture their third straight PBL Championship on Sunday.
The Admirals hope to not relive what happened last season in the PBL Finals and avoid another 2-0 sweep two years straight.
Game Two of the PBL Finals will be played in Rochester at Blue Cross Arena this Sunday at 5 PM EST and can be seen on ESPN3 at 5 PM EST streaming live from Blue Cross Arena this Sunday, April 24th.
