DALLAS, TX: NEBA's President Kevin Williams is known to have helped get many players a contract to play overseas, so when NEBA (New Era Basketball Association) began it's inaugural winter season on Nov 13, 2015, that was his number one mission. One of NEBA's premiere organizations, Garland Hoyas, believed in that mission to help get players to the next level and entered the NEBA league. Who would of thought that Hoya's stand out player LeShaun Murphy (6'0''-PG, college: Auburn-Montgomery), would benefit so quickly from that mission. On Dec 29, 2015, Leshaun Murphy signed a contract to play in SPAIN and on January 1, 2016 he arrived in Madrid, Spain where he will be starting at the point guard position. Murphy is an explosive and athletic guard that averaged 20.3 points, 7 assists and 3 steals per game for the Garland Hoyas. And has been a shining star in NEBA with poster style dunks.Garland Hoya's coach, Paul Parker said, "I am both sadden but happy for Leshaun Murphy because he is an outstanding young man. He is professional, a hard worker, dedicated and determined and is the type of player we enjoyed having in our organization." Parker went on to state that the Garland Hoyas organization look forward to brining discipline players to our organization and to help them reach their highest potential.NEBA continues to gain attention as it showcase great basketball and because it is a new league, much of it's success has been mind blowing. This is just the beginning and you can expect a lot of talent within the NEBA league this spring as 20 teams across the nation will be showcasing their talents. Garland Hoyas is the second team in the inaugural season to have a player signed but there will be many more prospects as NEBA continue to create a high level platform so that players like Leshaun Murphy can get the opportunity they need.
