From the beginning of the tip off, the Garland Hoyas controlled the flow of the game. #2 ranked Austin Knights came into the Duncanville Fieldhouse, formerly known as the Bobby Knight Gym, to take on the Garland Hoyas. The Hoyas opened the game pressing the Knights, and forced multiple turnovers. Hoyas defensive standout player, Ladarrin Williams #25, held one of the NEBA league's most dangerous offensive weapons, D'Mond Grismore #35, to only 8 points by halftime and Grismore only scored 17 points on the night. Ladarrin Williams' impressive defense couldn't be denied and he is arguably one of the best defensive players in NEBA.While the Garland Hoyas made eleven (11) three pointers from the field, it wasSteven Johunkin (6'2''-G) who stole the night. He scored 13 straight points in the third quarter that opened the lead for the Hoyas. The Austin Knights had no answer for him, because during the sequence, every shot Johunkin shot went in.The final score was: (2-0) Hoyas 131 - Knights 103 (1-1). The Garland Hoyas are a very dominate team- very fundamental, deep bench with multiple scoring options and will be tough to beat. Hoyas next game is December 5th as they will host San Antonio Kings (0-1) at 7:00PM.
