DALLAS, TX: Opening night in NEBA (New Era Basketball Association) started out with a bang as predicted, with No 1. ranked Memphis Lions visited the Garland Hoyas in Dallas, Texas at the Juanita C. Craft Center. The game was played before a packed out gym with fans coming to see their Garland Hoyas. Most expected the game to go down to the wire and what an exciting finish it was. Memphis took full control at the beginning of the game and had their way for the first three quarters. Memphis opened up with exceptional three point shooting and great ball rotation. Memphis Guard, #1 Bobby Jones came out the gate hitting 3 - pointers from all over the court and the Hoyas had no answer. At one point Memphis was up by 11 points over the Garland Hoyas and they continued to throw everything they had at the Hoyas.Memphis had no answer for Hoya's Jarvis Bradley (6'8''-PF-82, college: McNeese St.) who had his way on the glass and was too big for the Memphis Lions to handle. Hoyas organization expected their team leader, Jarvis Bradley, to produce and he delivered. The Garland Hoyas owned the fourth quarter and was led by the tremendous play of their star, SG-Leshaun Murphy #0 who couldn't be stopped. But it was Bruce Barron #55 who hit two (2) clutch 3 pointers that busted the game wide open and there was no way for the Memphis Lions to recover. Barron's shots were daggers and the gym exploded with enthusiasm from the fans as the Garland Hoyas took the lead. Garland Hoyas coaches made excellent adjustments and continued to change the line up that eventually wore the Memphis Lions down. The Garland Hoyas went on to win the game 96 to 91. The Garland Hoyas has great talent and depth and are expected to easily make the playoffs and be a major contender for the Championship after being undefeated in pre-season and knocking off the #1 ranked Memphis Lions. If the Hoyas continue to grow, they will be hard to beat. The Hoyas organization is a class act and the fans are excited about this team. Their next game is November 21, 2015 @ 6:00PM as they host the Austin Knights in Dallas.
