| |  | Dustin Pfeifer (5'8''-G-83, college: Findlay (OH)) and Hertener Loewen came to a mutual agreement to end their deal early after the point guard was second in assists per game (6.8apg) in the 2. Bundesliga Pro B as well as in steals per contest (3.0spg) and 11th in points per game (19.0ppg) in 2007-2008. The ultra-quick pure point guard will ascend one level to suit up for BV Chemnitz 99 (Pro A) in the upcoming 2008-2009 year. Dustin Pfeifer, who played his first year as a pro in Denmark and was named the 2006-2007 Eurobasket.com All-Danish Basketliga Guard of the Year. He started this past season on a team called Regionalliga West-side Benslips Baskets Salzkotten and headed to Hertener Loewen in February 2008. Look for this rising star to continue his stellar play and exciting brand of ball in the top division of Germany and possibly beyond in the future. The former D2 All American and career leader in assists and steals among other statistical categories at Findlay (OH) is one of the many stories of D2 basketball players making a quality living overseas in the game of basketball. |

The KPA Tryout was a success and some quality players showed up for the tryout. Coach Pete Sambu ran a very good workout and the players performed well. A standout was Boris Siakom from Western Kentucky University. The 6-8 foward was impressive in the workout.

David Morris (Dayton, Romania) came out with 12pts in the first quarter to set the tone for the Blue team in the scrimmage tryout game. Boris Siakom (Western Kentucky 08) had 15 point and 10 rebounds for the blue. Clint Joshua ( Campbellsville, 08) lead white with 16pts and 10 rebounds. Victor Morris (Cleveland State, Germany) also had 15 points for White.

Veteran KPA Performers lead Team Live/Wings to Go in this one. Thad Key (KWC) had 16pts and Damon Garris (KWC/Iceland) had 15 points. Earl Carr was also very impressive running the point for the Baltimore team. Pals Elite was lead by hot shooting Demarcus Perry (Sienna) with 23 and an extremely athletic talent in Raulston Charles with 13.

 | GVSU hires Jeff Bauer assistant coach | |

by Eurobasket News - Jun 20, 2008 | |  | Grand Valley State head men's basketball coach Ric Wesley announced today that Jeff Bauer has been named the top assistant in the men's basketball program. Bauer replaces Burt Paddock who left to become the head coach at Davenport University. Bauer has been an assistant coach in the GVSU men's basketball program the last two years, while also handling the role of Athletic Director at Tri-County High School.
'We are extremely excited to keep coach Bauer in the men's basketball program at Grand Valley State,' said Wesley. 'He has a great deal of experience in all facets of coaching and his work ethic is well known throughout the profession. After going through the interview process it was more and more obvious that the best man for the job was already on our staff.'
Jeff will be responsible for a variety of duties within the GVSU men's basketball program, including recruiting, camps, on-court coaching and scouting.
'I'm blessed to be able to continue my coaching career at Grand Valley State,' said Bauer. 'It is extremely exciting to be a part of the Grand Valley State men's basketball program and I want to thank coach Wesley for this opportunity,' added Bauer.
Following his graduation from Grand Valley State in 1997, Bauer was a student assistant at Central Michigan from 1997-99 while completing his graduate degree. He then spent the 1999-2000 season as an assistant at Lincoln Memorial, before moving on as an assistant with the Grand Rapids Hoops of the Continental Basketball Association during the 2001-02 campaign. Jeff served as the head coach at Grand Rapids Creston High School during the 2002-03 season and led the team to a 12-9 record. Bauer was a part of the Central Michigan staff from 2003-06 as an assistant coach.
A 1993 graduate of Newaygo High School, Bauer lettered in basketball, football and baseball. He was an all-area pick on the gridiron. Jeff is a member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches, the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
