Florida lands star transfer Egor Koulechov from Rice - Apr 20, 2017

Exit Devin Robinson (6'8''-F-95), enter Egor Koulechov (6'5''-G/F-94). Four days after Florida Gators basketball lost its best overall player, head coach Mike White landed the top available graduate transfer when Koulechov committed to play his final collegiate campaign with the Gators. Koulechov (6-foot-5, 210 pounds), a native of Volgograd, Russia, grew up in Israel and played high school basketball in South Florida. He began his college career at Arizona State, where he averaged 3.7 points in 14.0 minutes per game before transferring to Rice and sitting out the 2014-15 season. Koulechov became the Owls' best player over the last two campaigns, averaging 16.7 points and 7.0 rebounds as a redshirt sophomore while shooting 41.7 percent from the field and 34.2 percent from beyond the arc. He somehow managed to improve nearly his entire stat line this past season, posting averages of 18.2 points, 8.9 boards and 2.1 assist while standing out from beyond the arc by hitting threes at a .474 clip. The graduate transfer ultimately chose Florida over Oklahoma, and a visit to see the Gators two weeks ago coupled with plenty of personal recruiting from White likely solidified that decision. Koulechov also has a tremendous opportunity to play right away at Florida, either as a third starting guard or sixth man in a role similar to that Canyon Barry held during the 2016-17 campaign. It's worth noting that Koulechov projects better than Barry and comes to the Gators at a time of great needs when either three or four of their top six players will not return to the team next season. 'I'm very excited to announce that I'm headed to The University of Florida. Go Gators!!!' Koulechov wrote on Twitter.

St. John's guard Lovett to leave school, turn pro - 8 hours ago
Marcus LoVett Jr.(6'0''-G-96) announced on Saturday morning that he will be leaving St. John's to pursue a professional career. This decision doesn't come as much of a surprise. Lovett, who averaged 14.9 points through the first seven games of the season, was ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury despite reports that he was healthy enough to play. According to the New York Post, Lovett was not even enrolled in school for the spring semester. Lovett spent three seasons in...   [read more]

St. Bonaventure defeats No. 16 Rhode Island, 77-74 - 16 hours ago
St. Bonaventure pulled off its biggest win of the year Friday and jacked up its expectations even higher for the final month of the college basketball season. The Bonnies upset 16th-ranked Rhode Island, 77-74, for their eighth straight victory. The result snapped Rhode Island's 16-game win streak, tied for longest in the nation, and it was the Rams' first conference defeat of the year. Junior forward Ladarien Griffin (6'6''-F) blocked a shot by Rhode Island star Jared Terrell (6'3''-G-95)...   [read more]

Boston College Rolls Over Pitt - 2 days ago
Pittsburgh, PA - After struggling in the first half, Boston College and leading scorer Jerome Robinson(6'6''-G) had monster second halves as the Eagles flew past Pitt 81-58 on Tuesday night in Pittsburgh. Robinson scored a game-high 27 points, including 25 after halftime, to help erase a 15 point first half deficit. Robinson was aided by fellow guards Jordan Chapman and Ky Bowman. Chapman put up 17 points on five made threes, while Bowman stuffed the stat sheet with nine points, six rebou...   [read more]
