Xavier adds talented big Kerem Kanter, but only if he withdraws from NBA Draft - Apr 12, 2017

Kerem Kanter
Green Bay graduate transfer forward Kerem Kanter (6'9''-F-95), the younger brother of Oklahoma City Thunder big man Enes Kanter, has committed to play for Xavier, according to a report from ESPN. The 6-foot-10 forward enjoyed a breakout junior campaign for the Phoenix last season. He averaged 19.1 minutes, 6.3 rebounds and 11.3 points last season -- all career-highs for the native of Istanbul, Turkey. Following the conclusion of the season, Kanter declared for the 2017 NBA Draft. Despite his commitment to Xavier, he still intends to keep his name in the draft, but doesn't plan on hiring an agent, leaving the door open for his return. Kanter can withdraw his name at any time during the draft process up to 10 days after the draft combine. Should he opt to play a final season for the Musketeers at the college level, he would be eligible immediately. Xavier figures to be a preseason Top 25 team without Kanter in the fold, so if the Musketeers do end up with the once highly sought graduate transfer, expectations for the Xavier program will be sky-high following a 2016-17 campaign that ended in a Cinderella-like run to the Elite Eight.

Jack Whitman
Forward leaving Kansas program - 1 day ago
Kansas' already thin frontline took a hit Wednesday night when it came to light that Jack Whitman(6'9''-F) will not suit up for the Jayhawks. Whitman, a transfer from William & Mary, will leave the Kansas program, according to multiple reports. The 6-foot-9 forward averaged 10.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per game last season for the Tribe before deciding to graduate transfer, committing to the Jayhawks in May. 'I know I can play with these guys, contribute and help us win games this year,'...   [read more]

Minnesota lands in-state 2018 forward - 1 day ago
Minnesota is building its frontcourt of the future in its 2018 class without even leaving the Twin Cities. Jarvis Thomas, a four-star forward, committed to the Gophers on Tuesday evening, becoming the second in-state frontcourt player in Richard Pitino 's newest class. The 6-foot-7 forward hails from the Minneapolis suburbs and joins another local product, four-star center Daniel Oturo, to forge a potentially formidable future frontcourt for Pitino and Co., who are coming off their first...   [read more]
Mississippi State lands commitment from Reggie Perry, former Arkansas recruit - 4 days ago
It didn't take long for five-star, top 15 prospect Reggie Perry (6'9''-F) to make his decision. Less than two weeks after decommitting from Arkansas, the Thomasville, Georgia, native announced that he will be committing to Mississippi State. Perry's father played for the Bulldogs in the 1970's. 'I believe that Ben Howland and the coaching staff can help me achieve my goals as a student-athlete and become a pro,' he said. The Bulldogs currently have a talented young nucleus, and the expect...   [read more]
