Mike Hopkins
The Washington Huskies will hire Mike Hopkins as the program's next head coach, multiple sources told FanRag Sports on Sunday. The announcement is expected to come at some point on Sunday. Hopkins had been with the Syracuse Orange as an assistant coach since the 1996 season, He has also served as the program's interim head coach when it needed him to. Once assumed to be the man who would take over for Jim Boeheim after the legendary coach retired, Hopkins also played for the Orange from 1989-1993. In 2015, Syracuse announced Hopkins as the Men's Basketball Head Coach-Designate. Washington recently fired Lorenzo Romar. The Huskies, who have not make the NCAA Tournament since the 2010-11 college basketball season, went 9-22 this season. Romar, who had been with the program as the head coach since 2002, is a three-time Pac-12 Coach of the Year. He was fired on March 15. As for the Orange, a program that is now without a coach in waiting, they failed to make the NCAA Tournament this season. Without Hopkins as the official coach in waiting, coupled with the timetable for Boeheim's retirement regularly pushed back, Syracuse will be an interesting university to follow over the course of the next year.

Vanderbilt lands commitment from Aaron Nesmith - 5 days ago
Vanderbilt landed their first commitment in the Class of 2018 with four-star wing Aaron Nesmith. Nesmith is a native of South Carolina, and the Commodores beat out South Carolina for his services. At 6-foot-6, Nesmith is the kind of defensive presence and athlete that Vandy will need to replace Jeff Roberson, who will be graduating this season. This is a critical class for Bryce Drew, who is squarely in the mix for five-star guards Darius Garland and Romeo Langford   [read more]
