N.C. State head coach Mark Gottfried will not return as head coach of the Wolfpack in 2017-18, NBC Sports has confirmed. Gottfried will finish the rest of the season as head coach. His job has come under pressure over the course of the last week due to some disappointing performances capping off a disappointing season. The Wolfpack are just 14-12 on the season and 3-10 in the ACC following a 97-73 loss at home against in-state rival North Carolina on Wednesday night. That loss came on the heels of a 30-point drubbing at Wake Forest. Gottfried, whose contract is worth $760,000 annually, has three years remaining.

Cincinnati (25-3, 14-1 American Athletic) led by as many as 24 points during its highest-scoring opening half in conference play this season, pulling ahead 51-32 at the...   [read more]

Butler coach Chris Holtmann told his players to expect to be punched in the mouth playing on the road against one of the best teams in the nation. The Bulldogs took the punch - and then delivered a knockout blow few people saw coming. Kelan Martin (6'6''-PF) scored 22 points and fueled a stunning second-half rally to lead No. 22 Butler past No. 2 Villanova 74-66 on Wednesday night, snapping the Wildcats' on-campus home winning streak at 48 games.
