Dan Majerle, Grand Canyon strike on arguably the top available 2017 center prospect -- Roberts Blumbergs (6'9''-F/C-97). Latvian star Roberts Blumbergs verbally committed to Grand Canyon on Tuesday, a source told Scout. Blumbergs was regarded as the top available center prospect in the 2017 recruiting class. Blumbergs decision came down to Grand Canyon and Creighton, but he also garnered interest from Auburn, Georgia Tech, Nevada and a host of others. Blumbergs had a strong showing in the FIBA u18 European Championships this past December, averaging 16.5 points and 9.8 rebounds a game. He also made 10 of his 22 three-point attempts in six games. 'I can do everything on the court,' Blumbergs said. 'I have worked so much on my shot and dribbling skills this season that I can attack defenders from outside and handle the ball very well even though my size is 6'10.' 'I fell very confident in shooting the ball from the three-point range and taking to the basket also in situations and I really like to compete against the bigs under the basket,' he added.
Blumbergs currently plays for GBA Prague in the Czech Republic.

Milwaukee Surprises Loyola With Easy Win - 1 day ago
Milwaukee, TX - It's rare when two mid-major schools hook up for a mid-December game with both schools sporting a victory over a high major on the high major's home court. But that was the case when Loyola of Chicago made the 90-mile trek north to take on Milwaukee in a non-conference match-up between the 10-1 Ramblers and the 6-5 hometown Panthers. Taking a page from the normally sharp-shooting Ramblers' playbook, the Panthers made nearly half of their shots and 40 percent of their three...   [read more]

Texas Top Louisiana Tech Led By Osetkowski - 2 days ago
Austin, TX - After a tough loss to the Michigan Wolverines on Wednesday, the Texas Longhorns rebounded with a hard fought 75-60 victory on Saturday against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. Opening the game with a 7-0 run, the Longhorns were aggressive at the rim (16 points in the paint) and on the defensive end causing 12 turnovers in the first half. After struggling from the field in their last game, the Longhorns had a strong showing against the Bulldogs shooting 49 percent (24-of-49) on t...   [read more]

Buffalo Rides Strong First Half to Beat Robert Morris - 2 days ago
Buffalo, NY - When asked before the game how his young team was winning Robert Morris head coach Andrew Toole said, 'Defense. hard work and repetition defensively.' It didn't work for them in this game. Buffalo turned the tables using an aggressive defense, and a good shooting day to take the 86-70 win in a game that was not a contest after halftime. Buffalo shot over 50 percent and harassed Robert Morris into 40 percent shooting while keeping relentless pressure on all game. Buffalo wa...   [read more]
