Cape Breton Highlanders down Miracles in NBL Canada action - Apr 1, 2017

The Cape Breton Highlanders got back in the win column on Friday, defeating the Moncton Miracles 119-110 in National Basketball League of Canada action at Centre 200 on Friday. The win comes after the Highlanders dropped a 133-105 decision to the Saint John Riptide on Tuesday at Centre 200. In Friday's game, Cape Breton held a 31-17 lead after the first quarter, before taking a 59-44 lead into half time. Despite a pushback by the Miracles in the third, the Highlanders continued to lead 88-75 after the third quarter, before securing the win, dropping 31 points in the fourth quarter. Booker Woodfox (6'1''-G-86, college: Creighton, agency: Interperformances) led the offence for the Highlanders with a game-high 28 points in the win. Chad Frazier (6'4''-G-92, college: UAB) scored 25 points, and Charles Mann (6'6''-G-94, college: Georgia) Jr. netted 17 points. Russell Byrd (6'7''-G-92, college: Michigan St.) scored a team-high 25 points in the loss for the Miracles. Tim Mitchell added 21 points and Melvin Johnson III chipped in with 20 points. The Highlanders (9-18) will be back in action on Sunday when they host the Orangeville A's (11-19). Tip off is set for 3 p.m. at Centre 200. Following Sunday's game, Cape Breton will hit the road for four games, starting on Wednesday in London, Ont., against the first-place Lightning. The team will continue their Ontario road trip with games against the Niagara River Lions on April 7 and A's on April 8, before wrapping up the road trip April 15 in Charlottetown against the Island Storm. Cape Breton will return to home court on April 16, hosting the Niagara River Lions.
