Akeem Wright
Island Storm (NBL Canada) added to their roster 33-year old American swingman Akeem Wright (200-98kg-84, college: Kansas State). He started the season at Apoel in Cypriot Division A. In 17 games he recorded 13.2ppg, 6.1rpg, 2.1apg and 1.2spg this season. Wright helped them to make it to the Supercup final. A very spectacular season in his career as he was voted to Cyprus League All-Star Game. Wright also played 12 games in FIBA Europe Cup where he averaged 14.5ppg, 5.0rpg, 1.8apg and 1.5spg.
The most of last season Wright spent at London Lightning. In 48 NBL Canada games he had 14.6ppg, 6.2rpg, 2.9apg and 1.2spg. He contributed to his team winning the league title (twice) (also twice). Great season indeed as he was voted to USBasket.com All-NBL Canada Honorable Mention. The other team Wright played that season for was Tampereen Pyrinto in Finnish Korisliiga. In 14 games he got 14.1ppg, 7.4rpg and 1.4apg.
Wright is quite experienced player. Thanks to his pro career he managed to play on three different continents (Europe, Australia and of course North America) in nine different countries. Wright has played previously professionally in Argentina, Israel (Maccabi Kiryat Gat and Elitzur Ramla), Jordan, New Zealand (Pistons and Nuggets), Saudi Arabia, Spain (Blancos de Rueda), Sweden (Sundsvall Dragons), Ukraine (DniproAzot) and Canada (Halifax_Rainmen, Moncton Miracles and Power).
He is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas.
Wright attended Kansas State until 2007 and it is his tenth season as a professional player.
