Renaldo
Dixon
Renaldo Dixon (6'9''-C-90, college: N.Mexico St.) scored a season-high 27 points in a home-coming game of sorts as the Toronto native guided the Halifax Hurricanes to a 108 -101 win against the Orangeville A's in a Sunday matinee at Athlete Institute in Orangeville, Ont. Antoine Mason (6'3''-G-92, college: Auburn) (21 points) and C.J. Washington (6'8''-F-92, college: UAB) (17 points) also played vital roles as the Hurricanes (16-3) - who are now 2-0 in its current three-game road trip in Southern Ontario - swept the season series from their Central division opponent. Halifax won its first meeting 108-82 back on Jan.8. Losers of four in a row, Orangeville (7-10) was paced by Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson (6'6''-F-91, college: Temple), who had a monster game with 27 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. With Halifax riding high off its dramatic buzzer-beating victory against the K-W Titans two nights earlier and with the A's down two starters (Justin Moss (6'7''-F-93, college: Buffalo), Anthony Harris (6'2''-G-85)) and in the midst of their worst slump of the year, Sunday's afternoon's game played out much to script - except for the fourth quarter. The A's were hounded by the league's top-ranked defence from the opening tip and trailed by as many as 16 with poor shooting being a reoccurring theme throughout the game. Inspired by the play of its bench reserves Jameson Tipping (6'7''-G, college: W.Kentucky) and Enrico DiLoerto, the home team, however, cut the deficit to a single point in the fourth quarter with a little over four minutes to play. The visitors responded as they had all afternoon long - with defence. Joey Haywood came up with a timely steal leading to a White dunk and never looked back. Orangeville struggled shooting 40 per cent from the floor and 28 per cent from three-point land. In comparison, the Hurricanes offence was rolling with every player on the roster scoring except for Ta'Quan Zimmerman (6'2''-G-91, college: Monroe CC).. The Canes sizzled, shooting 50 per cent from the field and 52 per cent from deep. The Hurricanes conclude their road trip with an NBLC finals rematch Monday night against the London Lightning (14-3) at Budweiser Gardens.

Titans snap slide with win over Edge - 2 days ago
Start the game one hour before noon, toss a large contingent of exuberant schoolchildren into the mix, and voila, the slide is over. The Kitchener-Waterloo Titans put an end to their five-game National Basketball League of Canada losing streak Tuesday with a 94-86 win over the St. John's Edge. Kevin Rogers (6'9''-PF-86, college: Baylor) led the way with 16 points and 11 rebounds and a crowd of about 2,000 energetic youngsters provided the Titans with a much-needed lift at the Aud. River Lions repel Magic - 4 days ago
Sometimes a team needs to pullout a gutsy win. That was the case Sunday afternoon at Meridian Centre as the Niagara River Lions snapped a three-game losing streak with a 97-94 win over the Moncton Magic. In a game that saw nine lead changes, the River Lions finally prevailed to improve to 9-11 on the season. 'That was a gut win,' a relieved Lions head coach Joe Raso said. 'We had two teams right here that both we're fighting (tough) schedules. Both were fighting personnel adversities - th...   [read more]
