The Halifax Rainmen (10-10) have announced the signing of veteran guard Cedric Moodie (6'2''-G-78, college: Indianapolis), pending clearance. To make room for Moodie the team announced that they have released Josiah Turner (6'3''-G-92, college: Arizona).
Cedric Moodie, 34, joins Halifax after having played in three leagues in the 2011-12 season. In December 2011 he joined the Quebec Kebs where he played 22 games and averaged 12.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists while shooting 43.1% from the field and 36.0% from three. From there he moved on to Argentina where he appeared in seven games for Quilmes Mar del Plata in March of 2012. He concluded his 2012 season with Universidad Tecnologica Equinoc. Quito of Ecuador.
A product of Indianapolis University (2001-02) via Ball State (1999-2001), Moodie has played extensively in US minor leagues as well as Central and South American countries during his 11-year career.
Josiah Turner is a 6-3 guard out of the University of Arizona who is in his first professional season. He joined Halifax in November and averaged 9.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.5 steals in 15 games.

The St. John's Edge opened its inaugural season with a win in Charlottetown on Saturday night - with a homegrown player hitting the game-winning shot. Kitchener-Waterloo Titans (NBL Canada) inked 25-year old American guard Ben Vozzola (198-88kg-92, college: St.Catharine). He played most recently at Kentucky Mavericks (PBL) in the U.S. In 20 games he averaged 13.0ppg, 2.9rpg and 1.3apg last season. St. John's Edge (NBL Canada) signed experienced 36-year old Canadian ex-international guard Carl English (195-81, college: Hawaii). He played last season at ALBA Berlin in German BBL league. English managed to play in four leagues in two countries last year (!!!). In 24 BBL games he had 9.0ppg, 2.4rpg and 2.0apg. He helped them to make it to the German Bundesliga Cup Semifinals.
