Oshawa Power let Daanish go - Dec 12, 2012

Oshawa Power (NBL Canada) cut 29-year old American forward Amani Daanish (203-102kg-83, college: Indiana State, agency: Elite Talent Exchange). In 12 NBL Canada games he played this season he averaged impressive 15.3ppg, 5.5rpg and 1.5apg.
The last season Daanish played at Toyota Tsusho in Japanese JBL2. He helped them to win the league title.
This summer (seven years after he left the college) Daanish was drafted by Oshawa Power (NBL Canada) in second round (12th overall).
The former Indiana State standout is in his eighth season in pro basketball.
Among other achievements Daanish received Eurobasket.com All-Finnish 1st Division Center of the Year award back in 2009.
He is a very experienced player. Daanish has played also professionally in Iceland (Grindavik and Tindastoll), Iran, Israel, Malaysia (Segamat Basketball Association), Spain, Finland (Salon Vilpas), ABA (OC Gladiators) and WCBL (Pasadena Slam).
He attended previously one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on he way to pro basketball.

The National Basketball League of Canada is moving up its schedule for next season by six weeks because fans want to spend more time outside in the spring. The season will now begin in mid-November, rather than late December, and will end at the beginning of April, as opposed to mid-May. Cape Breton Highlanders (NBL Canada) signed experienced 54-year old American coach Rob Spon from Saint John Riptide. He helped them to end the regular season as a second best team in NBL Canada Atlantic Division. They also advanced to the league semifinals. The National Basketball League of Canada proudly announces that the 2017-18 regular season will start on November 18, 2017 and will run until April 2, 2018 as previously announced. After two years of starting the season on Boxing Day, the board of directors decided after their June meeting to move the campaign back to start on or around November 18, 2017.
