Summerside Storm (NBL Canada) cut 32-year old Senegalese ex-international forward Issa Konare (202-100kg-80, college: High Point, agency: Warren Sports International). In 13 NBL Canada games he played this season he averaged 7.9ppg, 5.9rpg and 1.3apg.
The previous (10-11) season Konare played at Niigata Albirex in Japanese BJ League. In 37 games that season he had 7.8ppg and 6.1rpg. He helped them to make it to the final.
Among other achievements Konare received Eurobasket.com Swedish Basketligan All-Defensive Team award in 2010.
He was also a member of Senegalese international program for some years. Konare played for Senegalese Senior National Team between 2003 and 2007 and previously for U18 National Team back in 2001. He also represented Senegal at the African Championships in Angola five years ago. His stats at that event were 6 games: 7.0ppg, 4.8rpg, 1.7apg, 2FGP: 52.2%, 3PT: 35.7%, FT: 37.5%.
Konare is a very experienced player. He has played also professionally in Finland (Kouvot), France (Aix-Maurienne and Boulazac Basket), Sweden (KFUM Jamtland) and PBL (Vermont Frost Heaves).
Konare attended High Point University until 2006 and it is his seventh season in pro basketball.

NBL Canada's Co-Founder Steps Down - May 26, 2016

After serving five seasons as General Manager and president of the Saint John Mill Rats, Ian McCarthy has made the decision to resign from his role with the organization citing family pressures as the reason. Hurricanes Defeat Mill Rats and Advance to Finals - May 22, 2016

Halifax Hurricanes Basketball Club defeated the Saint John Mill Rats 109-80 in game four of the Atlantic Conference Championships, at the Harbour Station.
