Summerside Storm (NBL Canada) cut 32-year old Senegalese ex-international forward Issa Konare (202-100kg-80, college: High Point, agency: Warren Sports International). In 13 NBL Canada games he played this season he averaged 7.9ppg, 5.9rpg and 1.3apg.
The previous (10-11) season Konare played at Niigata Albirex in Japanese BJ League. In 37 games that season he had 7.8ppg and 6.1rpg. He helped them to make it to the final.
Among other achievements Konare received Eurobasket.com Swedish Basketligan All-Defensive Team award in 2010.
He was also a member of Senegalese international program for some years. Konare played for Senegalese Senior National Team between 2003 and 2007 and previously for U18 National Team back in 2001. He also represented Senegal at the African Championships in Angola five years ago. His stats at that event were 6 games: 7.0ppg, 4.8rpg, 1.7apg, 2FGP: 52.2%, 3PT: 35.7%, FT: 37.5%.
Konare is a very experienced player. He has played also professionally in Finland (Kouvot), France (Aix-Maurienne and Boulazac Basket), Sweden (KFUM Jamtland) and PBL (Vermont Frost Heaves).
Konare attended High Point University until 2006 and it is his seventh season in pro basketball.

Chad Frazier (6'4''-G-92, college: UAB) made the first of two free throws with 0.8 seconds left in the fourth quarter to give the Cape Breton Highlanders a 100-99 victory over the Halifax Hurricanes at Scotiabank Centre on Sunday afternoon. It was the second time this season that Cape Breton has defeated their provincial rivals on Halifax's home court. The Hurricanes jumped out to a 30-23 advantage following the first quarter. Cape Breton stormed back in the second, to cut the deficit to...   [read more]

Hurricanes halt Miracles' win streak - 3 days ago
Even the prospects of tying a franchise record win streak could not change a familiar pattern. Led by Antoine Mason (6'3''-G-92, college: Auburn)'s 24 points and Mike Poole (6'6''-G/F-92, college: Iona)'s 20 points, the Halifax Hurricanes halted the Moncton Miracles season-high five-game win streak - one away from tying its franchise record - with a 101-93 win Thursday night at Moncton Coliseum. Halifax (24-7) now leads the season series 6-0. Moncton (11-17) was paced by Malik Story's 22...   [read more]

Wild finish in Windsor, Orangeville falls short in double overtime - 4 days ago
It was a rough shooting start for the A's despite moving the ball very well for open shots. With a struggling offense, they quickly found themselves on the wrong end of a 10-0 run while Windsor converted most of their opportunities inside the paint. The A's didn't find themselves behind for too long however, and they retaliated after a quick pause in action to tie the game back up at 16-16. Although they had no success from behind the 3-point line, their interior presence provided consist...   [read more]
