Experienced Rwandan-Canadian Manix Auriantal (187-G-80) had a very impressive game in the last round for Montreal J. and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 10.
The 32-year old guard had the game-high 36 points adding five rebounds and four assists for Montreal J. as his team lost the game against the league's best team London L. (#1, 9-0) 97-116. Montreal J. maintains the 8th position in NBLCanada NBL Canada. They are still not able to win a single game in the league yet. The season is still in it's early stage, so the team may have a chance to improve their current position in the standings. They lost 8 games and had no victories. In the team's last game Auriantal had a remarkable seven three-pointers out of 10 attempts. He turned to be Montreal J.'s top player in his first season with the team. Manix Auriantal averages this season 16.7ppg and 6.8rpg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 33-year old American forward Elvin Mims (196-F-79) of league's best team London L.. Mims impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 23 points and 13 rebounds. Of course he lead London L. to another comfortable win 116-97 over Montreal J. (#8, 0-8) being unquestionably team leader. Of course London L. still keep the league's top spot. He plays for the best team in the league and London L. managed to win all 9 games keeping perfect record. Mims is a newcomer at London L. and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was American Antoine Tisby (203-F/C-83) of Halifax R. (#3). Tisby scored 19 points and grabbed twelve rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Halifax R., leading his team to a 90-87 win against slightly lower-ranked Oshawa P. (#5, 6-6). Halifax R. needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 7 victories and 5 lost games. Tisby has a great season in NBL. After only 9 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 7.2rpg (9th best). He also has 1.6bpg and FGP: 50.7%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Darren Duncan (180-PG-88) of Windsor Exp. - 22 points, 4 rebounds and 12 assists
5. Al Stewart (178-PG-83) of Summerside S. - 21 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists
6. Antonio Ballard (193-G/F) of Summerside S. - 10 points and 18 rebounds
7. Jermaine Blackburn (200-G/F-83) of London L. - 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists
8. Adrian Moss (175-PG-88) of London L. - 13 points, 2 rebounds and 9 assists
9. Josiah Turner (190-G-92) of Halifax R. - 8 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists
10. Greg Surmacz (203-F-86) of Windsor Exp. - 10 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

NBL Canada season to tip off sooner to boost attendance - 4 days ago
The National Basketball League of Canada is moving up its schedule for next season by six weeks because fans want to spend more time outside in the spring. The season will now begin in mid-November, rather than late December, and will end at the beginning of April, as opposed to mid-May. Tyrone Levingston, the president of the Cape Breton Highlanders, said a survey of fans was conducted to look at when the season should run. "Our fans showed that that was the right choice to make," he sai...   [read more]

November start is official! - 16 days ago
The National Basketball League of Canada proudly announces that the 2017-18 regular season will start on November 18, 2017 and will run until April 2, 2018 as previously announced.
