Rob Hennigan
The Orlando Magic have fired Rob Hennigan as general manager. Hennigan was hired by the Magic in 2012. 'We appreciate Rob's efforts to rebuild the team, but feel we have not made any discernible improvement over the last few years specifically. It's time for different leadership in basketball operations. We certainly wish Rob and his family well,' said Martins. 'Matt brings solid experience and his appointment as general manager on an interim basis will allow us to seamlessly continue our preparations for the upcoming draft.' Matt Lloyd has been named interim general manager and will be considered as a candidate for the job permanently. Lloyd was named assistant general manager of the Magic on June 29, 2012. He came to Orlando after spending 13 years with the Chicago Bulls, his last five as their director of college scouting. In that position, Lloyd oversaw the scouting and information compilation of prospects for the NBA Draft, along with statistical analysis of pro and amateur players. He implemented and maintained a database which organized scouting information.

LeBron James (6'8''-SF-84) scored 10 of his game-high 29 points in the fourth quarter as Team LeBron rallied to defeat Team Stephen 148-145 in the NBA all-star game on Sunday night at Staples Center in Los Angeles. James added 10 rebounds and eight assists and led a feverish defensive stop on the final possession to preserve the victory and earn MVP honors. He is the league's All-Star Game MVP for a third time, joining Bob Petit (four), Kobe Bryant (four), Oscar Robertson (three), Michael...   [read more]
Adam Silver offers up 1-16 seeding compromise for possible playoff changes - 1 day ago
NBA commissioner Adam Silver floated the possibility of a modified playoff seeding system Saturday that could pit the league's best two teams against each other in the Finals without changing the number of teams from each conference that make the postseason. Because of a recent history of imbalance between the Eastern Conference and Western Conference, there have been some calls to take the best 16 teams per season, regardless of conference. In his annual All-Star Saturday news conference...   [read more]

NBA Dunk Contest 2018: Donovan Mitchell edges Larry Nance, Dennis Smith for title - 1 day ago
Donovan Mitchell (6'3''-G-96, college: Louisville) wasn't supposed to be in the 2018 NBA Slam Dunk Contest. He was the replacement for Aaron Gordon (6'9''-PF-95, college: Arizona) due to injury. The Jazz rookie, however, came prepared to show everybody that he should have been involved in the contest from the start. Everybody knows about his in-game dunk ability, but what about in a contest setting? Mitchell didn't disappoint. He started off with an incredible dunk that he threw off a sec...   [read more]
