Edy Tavares
Defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers inked 25-year old Spaniard-Cape Verdean center Edy Tavares (220-118kg-92). He started the season at Raptors 905 Missisauga. In 50 D-League games he averaged 10.5ppg, 7.9rpg, 1.5apg and 2.8bpg this season. A very good year in his career as he was selected to D-League All-Star Game. Tavares ended the last season at the Hawks where in 11 NBA games he had just 2.3ppg and 1.9rpg. But the most of that year he spent at another team Austin Toros. In 31 games he recorded 9.1ppg, 8.0rpg and 3.1bpg. Tavares helped them to end the regular season as a second best team in D-League Soutwest Division. They also advanced to the league semifinals.
Three years ago he was drafted by Atlanta Hawks in second round (43rd overall).
Among other achievements Tavares received Eurobasket.com All-EuroCup Center of the Year award in 2015.
He represented Spain at the Afrobasket Championships in Abidjan (Ivory Coast) four years ago. His stats at that event were 7 games: 8.1ppg, 6.0rpg, Blocks-5 (1.6bpg), FGP-1 (73.5%), FT: 53.8%.
Tavares has played previously professionally in Spain (Gran Canaria, La Palma and Gran Canaria) and other D-League teams (Northern Arizona Suns and Canton Charge).
His game is described as: Standing 7-3, with an astonishing wingspan of 7-9 he has tremendous size, combined with excellent mobility for a big man with his dimensions ... He's always active on the floor, showing great progresses from a conditioning standpoint, compared to when he arrived on the Canary Islands ... Offensively he's really effective in pick and roll situations, showing the ability to finish above the rim after the cut with aggressiveness, furthermore his mobility and coordination make him an effective contributor in creating space for his teammates with solid screens, playing a key role in Gran Canarias offense .. Most of his offensive repertoire is based on dunks and put backs after an offensive rebound, but he has shown significant improvements on his hook shot using his right hand ... He has a soft touch and he's a solid free throw shooter ... Defensively he's a great pick and roll defender, being able to recover in the painted area after helping on the screen ... Plus with his great size and wingspan he's definitely a great rim protector. According to those with knowledge of him, he's a nice, humble guy with a great work ethic.

Wizards rally to tie series with uncomfortable Raptors - 13 hours ago
In the lead-up to Sunday's Raptors-Wizards Game 4, Toronto coach Dwayne Casey posed a rhetorical question for public consumption. 'How do we respond?' the coach wondered. The Raptors had been run off the Capital One Arena floor in Game 3, dropping their first loss of the series in a turnover-rife shambles that saw Toronto's players, veterans and youngsters alike, lose their collective cool in the face of Washington's timely injection of physicality. 'How do you respond when someone is up...   [read more]

LeBron James
Cavs top Pacers 104-100 in Game 4 to even series - 13 hours ago
LeBron James (6'8''-SF-84) has been the first-round king for 12 years. On Sunday night, he needed Kyle Korver (6'7''-F/G-81, college: Creighton)'s 3-point shooting to put him in position to extend his reign. The two combined for all of Cleveland's points in a late 10-2 run, helping the Cavaliers to a 104-100 victory over the Indiana Pacers to even the series at 2. James drew boos from the crowd after flipping the ball up the court to run out the clock. 'You don't ever want to go down 3-1...   [read more]

Celtics Lose Game 4 to Bucks, 104-102 - 13 hours ago
Giannis Antetokounmpo (6'11''-G/F-94, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 27 points, including tipping in the go-ahead basket with 5 seconds left, and the Milwaukee Bucks beat the Boston Celtics 104-102 on Sunday to tie their first-round playoff series at two games apiece. Boston's Marcus Morris (6'9''-F-89, college: Kansas) missed a 14-footer at the buzzer with Khris Middleton (6'8''-F-91, college: Texas A&M)'s hand in his face to seal a nail-biting win for the Bucks. Seconds earlier, the 6-f...   [read more]
