Philadelphia 76ers released 23-year old guard Shelvin Mack (190-94kg-90, college: Butler). But in three NBA games he played this season he had just 0.7ppg. Mack also played at Maine Red Claws earlier that season. In 14 D-League games this year he recorded very impressive stats: 20.5ppg, 4.9rpg, 8.0apg and 1.4spg. The other team he played shortly were the Wizards. In 7 NBA games he recorded 5.3ppg, 2.3rpg and 3.3apg.
Two years ago Mack was drafted by Washington Wizards in second round (34th overall). He attended Butler University until 2011 and it is his second season in pro basketball.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as Macks college team won Horizon League Tournament for two years in a row (2010 and 2011). He was also voted NABC Division I All-District 12 2nd Team in 2011. Mack represented USA at the World Championships U19 in New Zealand four years ago. His team won Gold and his stats at that event were 9 games: 5.9ppg, 2.9rpg, 1.9apg, FGP: 35.2%, 3PT: 48.1%, FT: 22.2%.
Mack could be described: (by Aran Smith for NBADraft.net in 2011)
Instant offense type of shooter/scorer at the lead guard position. Very composed. Always on balance, never seems to rush things. Good pace to his game. Plays smart, values the basketball. Aggressive scorer with a crafty offensive game. Really knows how to create shots and has a strong one on one game. Good shot selection. Solid athlete though nothing extraordinary. Lacks tremendous leaping ability. Lacks great blow by speed off the dribble

The Hawks came out of the NBA trade deadline with two open roster spots - but they won't stay vacant for long.
