Spurs assign Baynes to Toros - Feb 1, 2013

Aron Baynes
The San Antonio Spurs have assigned center Aron Baynes (6'10''-C-86, college: Washington St.) to their D-League affiliate Austin Toros. Baynes played significant minutes in the Spurs' recent win over the Bobcats finishing with 7 points, 1 block and 9 rebounds in 17 minutes of action. However, seeing how he was added to the team mid-way through the season, without the benefit of a full training camp and preseason, any amount of time learning the Spurs' system is beneficial to his development. Similar to how the Spurs have been sending Nando De Colo back-and-forth to Austin in order to get time on the court and immerse himself in the Spurs' system. Moreover, after the Spurs' win over Charlotte, coach Gregg Popovich commented Baynes was winded and playing with the Toros tonight will help with his conditioning. Also, with Tim Duncan set to make his return to the court tomorrow versus Washington, it could be just a way to make roster space as well.

Rudy Gobert
Gobert has double-double to help Jazz beat Thunder 96-87 - 3 hours ago
The Oklahoma City Thunder were the talk of the offseason after adding two more All-Stars to the roster. None of that mattered against a deep Utah Jazz team built to defend. Rudy Gobert (7'1''-C-92) had 16 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Jazz to a 96-87 victory over the Thunder. Utah didn't trail after taking a 13-12 lead in the first quarter. Oklahoma City's All-Star trio of Russell Westbrook (6'3''-PG-88, college: UCLA), Paul George (6'9''-G/F-90, college: Fresno St.) and Carmelo Anth...   [read more]

Warriors plagued with frustration in 111-101 loss to Memphis - 3 hours ago
The Warriors entered the 2017-18 season trying to maintain championship habits. Instead, they have become saddled with issues that usually stunt rebuilding teams. The Warriors have struggled to defend without fouling. Their shooting consistency has gone array. Their bench has not established a consistent identity. And as a result, the Warriors suffered a 111-101 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday in what marked the defending champion's second defeat in its first three games. The Wa...   [read more]

LA Clippers guard Milos Teodosic helped off court with left foot injury - 4 hours ago
Milos Teodosic(6'5''-PG-87) sustained a left foot injury late in the second quarter of the LA Clippers' home opener against the Phoenix Suns. Chasing down an offense rebound, Teodosic stepped on Devin Booker's foot and fell to the court. He then slammed his fist into the court in obvious pain before teammates carried him off of the floor. Teodosic could not put any weight on the injured foot, although eventually he was able to hop back to the locker room. The Clippers said X-rays on Teodo...   [read more]
