In G-League Draft, Nets take four shooters, trade one for a PG - Oct 22, 2017

Scott
The G-League draft is over and the Long Island Nets came away with four picks, all shooters, then traded one of them for an established point guard, Shannon Scott (6'3''-PG-92, college: Ohio St.). Scott played alongside D'Angelo Russell at Ohio State. The Nets had one pick in the first round, three in the second. They retained their first three, traded the fourth. Long Island opens training camp Monday at the YES We Can Center in New Cassel, N.Y., part of the town of North Hempstead. Long Island's top pick was Thomas Wimbush (6'7''-F), a 6'7' swingman out of Division II Fairmount State. He went No. 4 overall. Wimbush played for Division II finalist Fairmont for four years. In 2016-17, he led Fairmont with a 16.4 point per game scoring average as well as 6.2 rebounds per game. He shot 58.7 percent overall and 36 percent from deep.
In the second round, the Nets took Devin Carter (6'5''-G-93), 6'5' shooting guard from Arkansas state with the 29th pick overall; Buay Tauch, a 6'6' swingman from Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles with the 30th overall pick; and Aaron Bell, a 6'4' guard out of Ryerson in Canada with the 42nd overall pick. Best was then traded to Toronto for Scott. Carter 23, averaged 10 points for Arkansas State, shooting 46.4 percent from the field, including 40.1 percent from deep. He went undrafted in June.
Tuach, a native of Ethiopia, averaged 11.5 for the L.A. school, shooting nearly 60 percent from the field, including an even 40 percent from three. Since going undrafted in June, the 22-year-old played briefly in Germany and Austria.
The Nets apparently took Best, a Toronto native, so they could acquire Shannon Scott, the Raptors 905 point guard. Scott played alongside D'Angelo Russell at Ohio State. After going undrafted in 2015, he joined the Raptors 905 D-League club, where he averaged 9.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 5.7 assists for the 905 club in 2015-16. He played last season in the Greek League but the Raptors held on to his G-League rights. He is the son of former NBA player Charlie Scott. In addition to Scott and the three picks, none of whom are guaranteed, the Nets are expected to have at least two holdovers from last year's squad, Prince Ibeh and Akil Mitchell, both bigs. Long Island will also feature two players cut from Brooklyn earlier this month: Milton Doyle and Jeremy Senglin, both guards, and their two-way contract players, power forward Jacob Wiley and shooting guard Yakuba Ouattara.

Red Claws hang on for 111-108 victory - 3 days ago
After squandering double-digit leads in each of their previous three games, the Maine Red Claws finally held on to win their first G League basketball game of 2018. Barely. Guerschon Yabusele (6'7''-PF-95) scored 32 points Monday night as the Red Claws beat the Austin Spurs 111-108 before a crowd of 1,658 at the Portland Expo.
