Life (Ga.) validated its regular-season title today with a 78-63 win over third-seeded Pikeville (Ky.) in the Mid-South Conference Men's Basketball Tournament at the Frankfort Convention Center.
The Running Eagles -- who become the first non-Kentucky team to win the title -- claim the MSC's automatic bid into the NAIA National Tournament which begins on March 13 in Kansas City, Missouri.
Mid-South Conference Player of the Year Dalarian Williams (6'6''-F) led four Running Eagles in double figures. Williams scored a team-high 21 points -- all coming in the second half after playing just two minutes in the first half due to foul trouble.
Zach Landis (6'4''-G) and Jonathan Beausejour (6'5''-F) picked up the slack in the opening 20 minutes scoring 11 and 10 points respectively in the half. Landis finished with 15 while Beausejour chipped in 14 in the game.
Life (22-10) continued its hot shooting in the tournament in today's championship game. The Running Eagles connected on 55.1 percent (27-of-49) of their shots from the field during the game, including making 10-of-23 3-pointers
Life used a 12-2 run over the final 3:34 of the first half to take a 41-30 lead into the locker room. The Running Eagles carried that momentum into the second stanza en route to building a 21-point lead with just over 12 minutes left in the game.
Pikeville (26-7) cut the deficit to 13 points (58-45) midway through the half, but Life used one final run -- a 16-4 spurt -- to ice the game.
Pikeville shot 43.3 percent (26-of-60) from the field and out-rebounded Life 34-25.
Clint Nwosuh (6'2''-G) scored a game-high 22 points while Darrion Leslie (6'4''-F) contributed 16 points.

MSU-Northern men out-shoot Argo men for second Frontier win - 20 days ago
A career game from senior point guard DeShaun Rice and 14 total steals weren't enough for the University of Providence men's basketball team to overcome a significant disadvantage on the glass in a 74-63 loss to Montana State University-Northern. The Argos led 32-28 at the half off of 17 points from Rice. UP also held the Lights to 35 percent shooting from the field in the period.
