Florida Spartans have said they will have 15-18 players on the roster and have officially announced the signings of the first 9 players to their team for the training and development program as well as giving them opportunity to compete. The team has stated to all players that just because these players have signed with the team, it does not mean they are guaranteed a spot every game. "These are players have to earn the right to wear a uniform everyday and we have signed them because they have dedicated themselves to our program and want to continue to get better not only as players but as professionals" said Coach Ben Mireles. Players announced are 6'0 PG - Martez Lewis, 6'3 Combo Guard- Patrick Cook, 6'3 Combo Guard - Robert King III (University of Central Florida), 6'3 Combo Guard - Tony Eackles Jr. (Eastern Oregon University), 6'4 Shooting Guard - Kareem Nicholson (Pittsburgh Community College) (, 6'6 Shooting Guard/Forward - Alix Petitfere (St. Petersburg College), 6'8 Shooting Guard/ Forward - Eddie Hayden (Coppin State . West Virgina Tech), 6'11 Power Forward/Center - Craig Ash, and 7'0 Power Forward/Center - Charles Mells (Arkansas Tech). The team is preparing to hold a tryout on April 10 and continue to look for quality players. The Spartans have decided to sign 9 players to official contracts for the 2016 season as they have been hard at work recruiting. "This is an organization which does not just look for basketball players who can play" said CEO Benjamin Mireles. "We are dedicated to developing athletes as professionals on and off the court and actually giving our players an opportunity to be seen at the next level". The team is looking to sign another 8-10 players within the next 15 days and will be looking to find players who are ready to work hard for a chance to compete with each other to be given a chance to really be seen by next level professionals.
