MBL has announced that Dayton Air Strikers Joe Thomasson (6'4''-G-93) & Chicago Fury Johnathan Mills have been announced as the MBL Players of the Week.

Not your "Average Joe" as Joe Thomasson (6'4''-G-93) grabs Player of the Week Award

Thomasson led the Air Strikers to a 110- 80 trouncing of Hamilton last weekend.

It was Thomasson's pro debut and a very successful one as well. Thomasson, the Wright State grad, dropped 21 points, had 6 boards, 6 assists, and 2 blocks in a great all-around effort to lead the Air Strikers (5-1) to a big win & a tie for the MBL East lead.

Thomasson, the smooth wingman, dominated on both ends of the court, and Hamilton had no answer for him.

Mills was beastly all day vs Chicago Clovers

Jonathan Mills (6'5''-F, college: Cal Lutheran), the 6'6 power forward from Southern Miss, scored 29 Points and wrestled down a league-high 30 rebounds as the Fury held off the clovers 140 - 131 in the "Battle for Chicago" Mills is currently the league rebounding leader and has posted a double double in each of the first 5 games for the Fury.

Mills was completely unstoppable in the post, and that was a huge key to another victory for the Fury, who now sit atop the MBL West (4-1). Mills now holds the MBL record for most rebounds in a single game.

CourtKings rallied to win in OT - 8 hours ago
The Cedar Valley CourtKings needed a little extra time, but the two-time defending Midwest Basketball League champions found a way to stay undefeated with a 125-116 overtime win over the Chicago Legends Saturday. With 1.9 seconds left, Raijon Kelly (6'4''-G-93, college: Angelo St.) was fouled while attempting a three-pointer and Cedar Valley trailing by four. After making his first two, Kelly missed his third intentionally allowing Johnny Jackson (6'9''-C) to grab the rebound, pass it to...   [read more]

CourtKings fight off Minnesota Lakers, 122-113 - 12 days ago
The one thing that Cedar Valley Court Kings coach Michael Mohlis has not done since taking over the top job is lose. Mohlis took full reign of the CourtKings last year and finished with a 10-0 record and a championship. So far this season, his squad remains undefeated at 4-0. But Sunday night, that mark was threatened by the visiting Minnesota Lakers. Trailing most of the game, the CourtKings rallied late and pulled off a 122-113 Midwest Basketball League victory over the Lakers at the Ce...   [read more]

CourtKings Outlast Broncos, 115-103 - 17 days ago
Two Midwest Basketball League opponents met at the Cedar Valley SportsPlex in Waterloo on Sunday night to renew their rivalry in their first of three regular season meetings. The Cedar Valley CourtKings (2-0), riding a 30 game win streak, entered the evening after a 118-91 victory over the Rochester Roadrunners last weekend. For the Minnesota Broncos (2-1), they split two games against T.C. Elite a week ago. For both squads, this game provided extra motivation as the chance to take over f...   [read more]
