History was made on Saturday as the Midwest Basketball League made its on-court debut in Hamilton, Ohio. The host team Hamilton Heroes walked away as the winner defeating Indiana Dream 128-112.

Opening day for the Dayton Air Strikers and Indiana Fury proved to be a big event at Vandalia Recreation Center. Both teams put on a great display for their first game of the MBL season with Dayton coming away with the comeback victory 124-112.

A close game throughout, Dayton lead early only to see the Fury battle in the second quarter to take a 62-55 advantage into the halftime break. Indiana were led by guard Zach Payton (6'5''-G, college: Redlands CC), who poured in a game-high 44 points while adding 13 rebounds.

By midway into the third quarter the AirStrikers pounded away at the lead eventually retaking the lead 83-82. By the end of the quarter the game still was up for grabs with Dayton leading 90-88. A strong final quarter propelled the home team to a victory, their first since 2013 when the team went on hiatus after a brief run in the CBL.

27-year old Payton led all scorers with 44 points. His backcourt partner Moses Sullivan (6'1''-G, college: Franciscan) chipped in 27 points while Jaemile Barnes (6'4''-F) scored 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Xavier Nieves (6'3''-G/F) (11 points) and Brandon Mosley (10 points) also scored in double-figures for the Fury.

Stats for the Dayton Air Strikers were unavailable at press time.

Next weekend will see Dayton (1-0) welcome the Northern Indiana Monarchs for a Saturday night matchup. The Fury (0-1) will stay on the road to take on their in-state opponent Indiana Dream (0-1) on Sunday.

Baker scores 53 but Lolar steals the spotlight in Rangers win - 1 month ago
During the preview leading up to this game it was stated that the battle would come down to Steve Baker(6'2''-G-90, college: Green Bay) and Lolar and thats exactly what happend on Saturday. The Rangers pretty much controlled the game starting off as it looked as if Wisconsin couldnt find the inside of the basket but once they got rolling it was a close contest throughout with Steven Steve Baker setting the tempo for the red hot Game Changers. At one point in the 4th period the Game Change...   [read more]

MBL Select vs Broncos - 3 months ago
Former WNBA standout Tamara Moore will be on the sidelines tomorrow night leading her select team against the Minnesota Broncos. The Broncos are 2-0 in exhibition play and looking to go 3-0 but I have a feeling this is gonna be a barn burner. Both teams will be in action on December 10th with the select team traveling to Wisconsin and the Broncos doing battle against the western conference champs Minnesota Rangers.   [read more]
