The Coffeyville Community College men's basketball team lost in the opening round of the 2017 NJCAA Div I Men's Basketbll Tournament to the Motlow State Bucks, 59-78. The loss ends the Red Raven's season with a 22-13 record. The #19 seeded Red Ravens seemed to being playing catch up the entire game in the Tuesday morning matchup against the #14 seeded Bucks. The Red Ravens were outscored 28-38 in the first half and after a brief run to start the second half were never able to mount much of a comeback. The post game stat page summed up the loss for the Red Ravens. Motlow State made 11 three pointers in the game (11 for 33), and out rebounded the Red Ravens 49-23. Those two combined with the Ravens shooting 14-26 from the free throw line extinquished any hope of a comeback for Coffeyville. Stat leaders for the Red Ravens in the game included sophomore forward Tedrick Wolfe (6'5''-G) (21 points on 10 for 13 shooting and 5 rebounds), freshmen guard Travis Washington (6'0''-PG) (8 points and 9 assists), and freshmen guard Malik Keith (5'10''-PG) (8 points and 5 assists). Highlights for the Red Raven's season included earning a trip to the NJCAA National Tourney, two victories over nationally ranked Hutchinson and an exciting run through the Region VI Tournament to earn the 2017 Region VI Championship.
