The #2 Chargers of Georgia Highlands College survived a terrible night on the defensive end and get the win over the Bobcats of East Georgia College 104-95 to advance to the NJCAA Region 17 Final Four. East Georgia College was playing it's second game in as many days but played with great effort. The game was a story of runs , the Bobcats keep the game close throughout the first half leading by 4, 18-14 at the 14:03 mark. The Chargers fought back behind Justin Bridges (6'4''-G/F) and Will Gibbons (6'3''-G) 11 points off the bench in the first half to take the lead 49-46. In the second half the Chargers went on a 26- 11 run to extend GHC lead to as many as 18 points. East Georgia fought back to cut the lead to 9 points with 2:30 to go but the Chargers held on for the win. The Chargers Tylik Evans (5'7''-PG) was the difference maker, battling a stomach virus and only playing 20:00 minutes but scored 26 points, Kyvon Davenport (6'8''-F) had 23 points and 6 rebounds, and 2 blocks, Doniel Dean had 15 points, and Will Gibbons had 10 points off the bench. ' We did a great job offensively tonight, but our defensive effort was lacking. It will have to get a lot better if we want to have any chance at all of winning the Regional Title,' said Charger Head Coach Phil Gaffney . With he win the Chargers will host the NJCAA Regional Final Four at the GHC Corral. The first game will be Friday with Central Georgia Tech taking on South Georgia State at 5:30pm followed by the Chargers taking on Chattahoochee Tech at 7:30pm. The winners will advance to the Championship game at GHC at 4:00pm on Saturday.
