Sophmore forward Richard Smith (6'7''-F) recorded a triple-double and helped the nationally-ranked Lakeland mens basketball team defeat host St. Clair County 89-82 on Friday night. Smith finished with ten points, 11 rebounds, and ten blocks on the day, tying Steve Haneks school record for blocks in the process.

Sophomore guards Daishon Robinson and Martell Medley (6'1''-G) led the way offensively with 19 and 17 points, respectively, while classmates Charles Oliver and Chaz Rollins added 14 apiece. Lakeland (6-3) shot 58% from the floor and was six of ten from beyond the arc.

Freshman guard Marcus Fleming chipped in three steals and three assists in the victory.

Medley, Smith, Rollins, Robinson will be critical in Lakeland potential return to the NJCAA national tournament, where they finished 4th last season.

The Golden Eagles men (20-7, 8-5) won their fifth-straight conference game by outlasting Central Georgia Tech (19-7, 9-3) thanks to clutch free-throw shooting down the stretch. Jamion Simpson (6'0''-PG) was 4-of-4 from the line in the final 20 seconds, and Malik Jordan (6'0''-PG) also hit two free throws with the game still in doubt in the final seconds.
