Sophmore forward Richard Smith (6'7''-F) recorded a triple-double and helped the nationally-ranked Lakeland mens basketball team defeat host St. Clair County 89-82 on Friday night. Smith finished with ten points, 11 rebounds, and ten blocks on the day, tying Steve Haneks school record for blocks in the process.

Sophomore guards Daishon Robinson and Martell Medley (6'1''-G) led the way offensively with 19 and 17 points, respectively, while classmates Charles Oliver and Chaz Rollins added 14 apiece. Lakeland (6-3) shot 58% from the floor and was six of ten from beyond the arc.

Freshman guard Marcus Fleming chipped in three steals and three assists in the victory.

Medley, Smith, Rollins, Robinson will be critical in Lakeland potential return to the NJCAA national tournament, where they finished 4th last season.

Keeshawn Palmer(6'6''-F) is transferring from Northern Oklahoma College, and is looking for a new junior college for his sophomore season. Palmer, a 6'6 forward, played in 33 games for NOC in 2015-16 averaging 4.4 points and 3.3 rebounds while connecting on better than 56% of his shots from the field. 1997-born Andre Arissol(6'2''-G-97) is heading to Colorado next season after deciding to sign with Otero Junior College to begin his college career. The GB Under-20's point guard had originally been set to sign with Division II college Delta State University, but has opted to play at JUCO level in order to push for a Division 1 team. Head coach Steve McClain and UIC have added a final recruit to their 2016 recruiting class by tapping the junior college ranks for State Fair Community College (MO) standout Clint Robinson (6'8''-F).
