From the opening tip, the visitors had the momentum all night Tuesday at Eastmoreland Courts as the Portland Chinooks were upset by the Salem Sabres in the third meeting between the I-5 rivals, 126-122.

Falling down 8-0 to start the game, the home team couldn't shake their opponent. Trailing 31-26 at the end of twelve minutes, Portland scored the first eight points of the second frame. When David Lucas (6'8''-F-82, college: Oregon St.) hit a three-pointer a few minutes in, the Chinooks had their first lead, 34-31. Numerous ties followed over the coming minutes before a 22-11 Sabres run to close the half put the visitors up 65-56 at the break.

Slam pushed their lead to nine early in the fourth quarter before Portland wiped it all away with a 9-0 advantage to send things to a timeout tied at 99 two minutes in. Halfway through the period, the game was still tied at 110 before the Sabres roared back with a 12-2 run to leave town with their first win of the season.

Portland falls to 7-3 and a game and a half out of first place. Salem is 1-3 coming back to Eastmoreland Courts next week.

Jared Cunningham (6'9''-F-89, college: Cumberlands) delivered another all-around game with 28 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Germain Jordan (6'6''-F, college: Dillard) came to play with his fifth double-double of the season, 23 points and 16 rebounds. Lucas in his return added a season-high 22 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Steffen Harvey (6'1''-G, college: Warner Pacific) was steady as ever with 11 points and 9 assists, tying his season best performance for dishes.

Salem was led by Tyrone White (6'7''-F-90, college: CSU Bakersfield) with 31 points and 9 rebounds. Former Oregon Duck Frantz Dorsainvil (6'9''-F/C-83, college: Oregon) added 24 points and 9 boards as well in his IBL debut.

Next up, Portland travels across the river to face Vancouver in Battle of the Bridge 4 this Sunday, June 8 at 5p.m. The next home game is Tuesday, June 10 at 7 p.m. versus Salem.
