Ballers' IBA title run stalls - Jun 14, 2016

With just two quarters left to an Independent Basketball Association spring season title, the Kenosha Ballers seemed to be in good shape. Kenosha led St. Louis 61-54 before a packed house at the Boys and Girls Club of Kenosha, but that's where the game ended. After an apparent break- in to the teams' locker rooms, according to Kenosha coach Tony Moore , the game was halted and will be rescheduled within the next couple weeks. Moore said a number of items appear to have been taken from both locker rooms. 'I have to talk to the league office,' Moore said. 'We'll see (what happens). We may have to put it in a neutral spot because it's such a drive for St. Louis. We may have to centrally locate the next one.' Few concrete details were available Sunday night. Boys and Girls Club CEO Jake McGhee said he wasn't at the game and still was in the process of putting things together. 'They're working on an incident report, and I have to gather more information,' he said. 'It's just a disappointing thing. We'll do everything we can to handle it appropriately and make things right.'
On the court, Moore was pleased with how things were unfolding. Through two quarters, Devron Bostick (6'5''-G-88, college: Minnesota) had 22 points, three rebounds, two assists and a steal, while Thomas Cobbs (6'4''-G) had 13 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals. All but one player on the roster had scored in the first half. 'We were just ready to play,' Moore said. 'Our chemistry has just been awesome. The last seven-and-a-half weeks, they've been trusting each other, giving multiple efforts, getting in the passing lane so you can tip the ball and put a hand on it, all those good things. 'We have enough veterans and enough people who are young enough and athletic enough to make a real good pro team.' Moore was clearly disappointed with how the day's events unfolded. 'We have to move forward,' he said. 'I feel bad because I was the host. This is our first championship (game in Kenosha). The gym was packed. 'I'm just hurting for (the players) because I know how hard they worked to get this and for it to be a championship game at home. I've watched them work the last three years at getting better so they can close out games like this.'
